I wont ever poke fun at you neighbors up north. This heat is beyond miserable. My huge concern is football practice for HS is starting or has started but most no longer do the two a days like we did. I dont care. Its freaking hot. If I was the Head Coach. We would be doing this from 0500-0800. By 1030, its 95-96 degrees. from 1630-1900 its 104-107. At some point the safety of the players and staff has to come in to play, I am an old worn out fart. However, when I was playing football, there were no cardiac arrest issues. But, Covid vaccinations were not an issue.

I can honestly say I was never envious of the south, other than the fishing that the gulf has. The heat is a no starter for this guy!

We had a couple days in the 90's during that one heat wave, but low 80's is the norm for a hot summer day.

That's to hot to fish can't imagine running drills in it.. I'm sitting at 76 currently.

That hot for that long is just oppressive.Hope it cools down for you guys soon.

Stacked thousands of bales of hay and straw up in a mow by the roof. Wanta talk about hot, no air, while hitting yer head on the roof joists. Drink water. And if ya don’t feel good take a break. After a lifetime of playing all 3 sports, no practice needs be over 90 minutes, ever. No one is paying much attention after an hour.

Is that temperatures any thing unusual this time of the year? It is August you know.

I feel truly bad for all who are in such horrible heat, and any humidity just makes it doubly bad.

You couldn't pay me to live east, or south of the divide. Not even any further south out west, than I am now.

I never understand why so many seem to love when sun is forecast. Sun , to me, just means another oppressive high system that blocks life giving cool rain.

I'll take snow and rain any day. Here, the reverse currants from the big mountains sweeps the lower valleys every night, with air conditioned coolness. Even now, down into the high 30's , mostly mid 40's. Open windows, trap that cool air , close windows when it warms up, and lasts all day. No need for AC.

That, and very low humidity, makes even a bit of heat more tolerable.

After tomorrow , temps are to drop into the mid to low 70's , with rain .

If I ever move , it will be further north. That's it.

Yep this is one carpetbagger Savell won’t have to worry about seeing down there anytime soon, I’ll take the coldest Iowa winter any day over the heat, one good part about bitter cold in Iowa is the humidity is low and that helps my arthritis.

110 heat index in Springfield MO today laying sewer line down a treeless street. Im a fat guy that always sweats and I'll put down two gallon of water a day. Salt is your friend when you sweat as much as I do. I carry a can in my truck all summer. Just eat a little pinch everytime I drink water.

Magnesium and potassium tablets every night help too.

… both of my boys been practicing in it…neither one has complained a bit (they’d just get called a sissy if they did lol)… Bud’s made first huddle tight end and is competing neck and neck for first huddle middle linebacker… you’ll have to ride across the river and watch a game or two

Long ago decided the cold was better then the heat and based decision on the fact can always put more clothes on to stay get warm but can only take so many off to get stay cool, before it becomes offensive

I remember back in the Carter years during the oil embargo, some Johnny Rebs said, freeze those Yankees. Haha, now cook those rebels. LOL
