On my land in the winters I see tons of rabbit tracks but have never seen a rabbit, id like to hunt them but they seem impossible to locate any suggestions on time of day or type of area to find them?

make brush piles
when your seeing so much rabbit sign around brush piles you can't stand it anymore go shake the piles and shoot half leaving half for stock.
we never used to see rabbits much at the farm until I started leaving brush piles then the sign was thick around them
go our first thing on a crisp Moring with snow and find them often out of the piles , shake a couple more out
habitat , if you build it they will come
I suppose it is possible you have too much natural thick habitat and they can hear you before you see them , that would be dogs territory but I have never runt hem with dogs , as much fun as it sound like

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

What I did would be determined by the type of rabbit you have.

Stomp the brush for them.
There comes a point liberalism has gone too far, we're past that point.

Early or late afternoon get out and slow walk the edges of fields and wood lines, go slow then slow down some more and keep an eye along the line ahead of you for any out of place objects, in the afternoon they will be sitting where they can catch the sun, especially if there’s snow on the ground, check out heavy brush spots if you don’t have piles of old brush piled up for shelter, dont just look over the tops of it either squat down and look below it
A dog can really help spot rabbits you would otherwise just walk past, even if they don’t chase them keep an eye on the dog they will focus in on them way before you spot them, my wire hair will see them from some distance and just stare at them till we are past them, now me picking them out of where their hiding can be a test of sight much like one of those pitchers that have a hidden design you have to look at a certain way before you see it, or you can just walk towards where your dog is staring till they jump and run

I'm guessing the tracks you're seeing are snowshoe hare in Manitoba? The responses here from the southerners are probably about cottontail rabbits. Totally different game, but a good beagle is the solution to both.

Got cotton tails around my place and snow shoes 1/2 hour away at the shack. Gotta set the snare’s different for those big foots. But there sure was lots last winter!

A couple rabbits will make a lot of sign in the snow, they got all night to poke around and the territory is small, you may not have as many as you think. This is fact.
Forget that fear of gravity-get a little savagery in your life.
