The bigger picture is being miseed, and you actually commented on it......no major oil companies bid on the now closed leases. This goes back to my original statement, this should cement their (major oil companies) investment outlook. Why should they bother in new areas when this trap is happening? I'd have their attitude towards it too, SUFFER. There comes a point liberalism has gone too far, we're past that point.

Even the oil companies are pretending they are environmentalist these days. What was the signal sent when Biden approved the Willow Project and blew off the environmental wackos? Who is John Galt?

Especially leases that were bought by the STATE who was probably looking to sell them to uninterested oil companies. BTW None of this will effect fuel prices in the near term if ever. P.S.
