I think E2 puts you too far off the side you want to shoot through the heart which is basically between the legs , your looking down on that deer E3 would be better and D3 would be my choice
D2 puts you too close to the scapula and it will stop an arrow been there done that never see a t-shirt for it
I feel like E3 is more likely to be mostly liver and take longer to bleed

I would shoot at A0, right above its eye. Or A1.

Still works, if the range is short. Had a buck shot in the skull with an arrow that we couldn’t get the broad head to come out of the plate. It made quite the thwack sound. Miss by a few inches and it's not pretty. If seen deer that they tried to head shoot and missed a little bit that lived or at least for awhile. Makes for cool story when it works but ugly when it doesn't. Plus a deer can move a substantial distance at the sound of the shot before arrow impact. Head shoots in a hunting situation are an ego shoot in my opinion D2 is missing lungs and heart. I think some of u are thinks the 2 line is right of the number

Line between 2-3 and E-F
I'd go E3 myself and not worry about hitting the heart, there's plenty of goodies there.

I'd go E3 myself and not worry about hitting the heart, there's plenty of goodies there. That would have been my second choice and for the same reason.
More and more when I go anywhere I find myself keeping track of where the nearest rest room is.

E3 for me. I always aim based on location of offside shoulder. Ding ding we have a winner. Regardless of angle facing looking other direction . That's a good rule

E3 for me. I always aim based on location of offside shoulder. Follow line 3 down, it comes out right between the front legs. But I agree the exit should be offside shoulder

I see some clearly mean the line intersect when they say 2-3 line and E intersect I wonder if others do also but not as clearly I figured archery picking the box is about all the closer your going to get and anywhere in that box is what you get I also wonder if everyone isn't seeing that you can see over the ridge of the spine so you are clearly above the deer thinking about your exit given your entry square where do you place your exit ? just satisfying my curiosity for how people see the same image different. given the angles I expect square D3 entry which I place 2 inches left of the spine to exit just to the right of the sternum just ahead of the right front leg , should catch both lungs and leave a nice hole out the bottom of the chest cavity for a blood trail. ![[Linked Image]](https://trapperman.com/forum/attachments/usergals/2023/09/full-34110-189644-fb_img_1695309426818.jpg)

don't think you would get many shots like that-never seen deer standing on top of grass hay in my country. That being said I thinks its a rare chance you would get a shot like that. I have never shot a deer at that angle. Bored ? tree stand hunters tree stand hunters who let them get in to about 10 yards from the base of the tree your at about a 35-45 degree angle down over them

Out west I just shoot deer with a rifle, cut them up, put em in freezer and eat them.I still don't get the picture. Looks weird to me even if I was in a tree stand.

I would shoot at A0, right above its eye. Or A1. A friend of mine took a ground level heart/lung shot at a doe just as she turned her head back to bite a flea or something on her side. The arrow went right through her ears and didn't kill her. For the next hour he and his brother chased her around the field (she was staggering like she was drunk because she had no equilibrium now) and finally got into a position to take another heart/lung shot. Point don't shoot at the head.

E3. There is no " off side shouldr" exit shot here that is favorable!
swampgas chili and schmidt beer makes for a deadly combo

I'd aim at F2 because the deer is gonna drop at 20-30 yards.
