As for idiots; It is more likely to be the whiney consumer that the engineering team.

I highly doubt that too. Look at all the lifter problems, oil consumption from using the wrong rings, etc. Etc. The list goes on and on.

That's why I am planning to buy a 60's -70's model car for my next vehicle and have no intentions to ever own a truck newer than 2010.

Are they though? How many of today's cars or trucks are getting a million miles? 1990s Toyotas have.

in many ways they are but other ways they are not.
They are over complicated with too much reliance on electronics.
and the cost is to buy and maintain is ridiculous.

see the attached youtube link, $5600 to replace a taillight on a ford f150 due to water leak.
for that cost I can buy and install a brand new engine in an older truck.

$5600 tailight on ford trucks.

It takes a lot of time to put a million miles on a vehicle, just ask Paul. Todays vehicles may well go a million miles the same as the '90s' vehicles, just need to give them a few decades to prove it. I dont have a dog in this fight, but if I was a betting man, my money would be on toyota and honda for the long haul.

So what truck do you buy? don't say a 90's Toyota, cause 1, they're not made anymore and 2, where you going to find one that's not rotted away?
The new Toyotas have issues too..so again, what do you get? Inquiring minds and all that...

They really don't want the peasants owning cars. Eventually they will get them so expensive only the wealthywill be able to drive. You will walk or call a "cab".

My hats off to the engineer who designed the batwing windows, not sure why they quit making them. I love mine in my 96 f150.

But……they were quieter! How many of you have actually heard the hum of a timing chain, without putting a stick on it? I’m waiting!

Funny you should mention the stick Lee.

Last week I was trying to locate a noise in my 2000 Frontier. The neighbor....a guy about 50.......saw me with a long screwdriver held against my ear and protruding into the engine compartment. He asked WTH I was doing.

He had never heard of the stick trick........so I let him try. He was amazed !!

I used to work with auto engineers. I helped launch the Ford Expedition. They told me that they design for the ease of manufacture, not repair.

Using reverse engineering. Easy to build should be easy to take apart. Lol

That was a mix of truth, sarcasm, and humor. All lost on you apparently. But nothing like making it personal, jackwagon.
