I picked up a 53 lb. beaver yesterday and he went outside my outer ring on 32x48 board. I have had them last year where out to the edge they sag so bad that I have to hang them upside down to dry. Are my boards non standard? I would have to guess anything I pick up over 55 lbs. does not fit the way I want it to.

The "rings are a guide."

stretch it more. you can and should go outside the lines if the hide needs it. Just try to keep the general shape.

Take the slack out on the top and bottom and nail the sides as close to the edge as possible. A 53 lb beaver should fit easily. Maybe your scale is wrong?

I would think a 50 plus pound beaver would be a XXXL or super blanket?

Put many 50+ pounders on my boards and never had an issue
Maybe a picture would help
Not sure on the exact measurements of my boards will have to take a look

Should fit if you have all the rings on the board. I have only taken a couple that went outside the biggest ring.

It takes a big one to fill a standard board, I have a 48”x48” board with a couple extra circles, don’t think I’ve ever used the bigger rings.

Yeah, I remember you had a MONSTER last year!

Most of my boards are 32" wide sheets of plywood. Pretty rare beaver that won't fit. I catch quite a few 60# plus beaver every year and they fit on there. We are talking oval Canadian rings right?

I’ve had a 63lb beaver just fit on the regular board. The 56lb female I got earlier in the fall was a bit slack, but the 55lb female just fit perfectly on the outer ring. Weird. I’ve got a bigger board that I forgot I had, I’m using it as a table for my knives n stuff. Some beaver are smaller but are just shredded, others are just fat

I am running 32" boards. I don't know about the rings, I had a pdf of the template and did some math to make the rings with some string and sharpies.
Funny you mention scales. Turns out my scale was off 5 pounds. found out when we went to the airport and had to put stuff in our carry on to keep from getting the baggage oversize fee. This is a brand new digital scale.
I am going to nail his head again tonight. I have him hanging upside down and have a wrinkle in his face. I figure I will loose size by not redoing that.
I will see if I can figure out a picture.
I need to get out and pull traps before all my creeks are 2' underwater for our weather this weekend.

Minz, it sounds like you're stretching your beaver round? In that case you need a 48" wide sheet. For those of us that do the Canadian stretch (oval) 32" boards handle just about anything you'll catch.
