I don't have a lot of $$$, but I have been considering a collection of O/U shotguns. I'd like to get all the gauges of the CZ Drake or similar in .410, 28, 20, 16 and 12. More of a nastalgia thing, I suppose, than an investment. Anyone else do crazy stuff like that? Most likely, I would never shoot them.

My first shotgun was an itiica model 37 feather weight. My father has a 37 in 12 and 16. I am a left handed shooter so the bottom eject is good for me. I have been looking at 28 ga. and dang they are spendy
I would like to have the full set but I am not sure I thica ever produced a 28 ga in model 37.

I can't believe that cop put me in the back seat when I clearly called shotgun.

I have Browning 525's in 12, 20, 28 and 410 but they're all shooters for sporting clays. Had a 16 but sold it a few yrs ago. I say go for it, ya only live once.!

I've been eyeing the CZ Redhead Premier 20 ga. for using. I just think it would be cool to have a full collection of a certain gun. I'd prefer the Beretta Silver Pigeon collection, however, I don't see that in the budget anytime soon.

If it something you would like I would start looking. A collection doesn't need to be completed right away. If it takes years to complete that is what makes it fun.

I started a collection but never completed it. I wanted a collection of model 12 Winchesters. I have a 20 and a 16 gauge and that is all the further I took it. Not sure I have the interest to get the other model 12 now.

Good Luck and do what makes you happy. It isn't like throwing money away it is any investment and can get what you have into them someday.

The gun I grew up hunting with was my grandfather's Remington model 31 20 gauge. When I got married and moved away, he repo'd it and said it would go to his son. 10 years later he had a change of heart and mailed it to me. In the meantime, I'd bought a 16 gauge model 31. I've considered buying that gun in the remaining calibers which I think is just 12ga but haven't done so yet....

Go for it Keck, there certainly are worse hobbies and more expensive collectibles. Poster child here.

MTbowhunter Ithaca started production of model 39’s in 28 gauge in 2008, I believe they started shipping them in 2009. No sign of them any earlier than that.

They use some nice wood on their guns and they seem like good work for the price.

I once owned a Winchester 101 O/U, 3 inch magnum. Traded it in on a Browning semi auto. Wish I never had. That was one fine shotgun.

Model 12s I have about two dozen in various gauges ect, the first half doz were inherited from dad’s family, the later ones mostly fancier then the straight work guns of the family have been bought over the years and I have only shot one or two.

If you buy any type or brand name gun that has been taken care of and than decide to sell it you will not lose any money At worse you might only break even So along the way you can use it at times Keep it clean and of course do not use it as a club or walking stick in a swamp. You will have had the use of it and will get pretty near to what you paid A well made firearm that was taken care of holds it's value without fail
