My question is how you connect the treble hook and weight assembly to your fishing line to the reel? Is it connected by just tying the rigging to the reel line or do you use a swivel connection? Or is it all continuing main fishing line to treble hook and weight?
I'm not asking about how to tie the hook and weight on the leader end but to attach that rigged leader to the main line?

Snell a hook 18 inches above the end of the line, then tie a sinker on the end

Snell a hook 18 inches above the end of the line, then tie a sinker on the end Yep, but wondering on after you have that hook and sinker done how do you attach it to the main fishing line? Do you use the fishing line itseft and is a continuing piece of line from reel line to attaching hook and sinker or do you install a swivel. With a swivel you have one more weak place to break.

I use this. 80 pound braided line, a swivel, and 50 pound leader so I dont lose gobs of line when I hang up. Need a big reel with a good drag.

I tie everything directly to the main line, but I double the end of the line by tying a spider hitch knot. I run about 4’ of doubled line. No swivel needed!

We always tied the hooks right to the main line and left a long tail to tie the sinker on. Every thing tied directly to the main line. You could tie a swivel on and pre tie hook and sinker rigs to add to the swivel. But what I saw of snagging after a while you don't mind a break.

Thanks boys, I will tie to main line with no swivel. I have fished for them before got a good one last spring. The reason I asked the question is some say tie straight through with main line others say no way it will break at swivel everything.

80 pound braided tied to the treble hook. Weight line 50 pound braided tied to the treble. Thread through the eye of the treble and one leg of the treble hook.
