The hospital called and said I had an appointment a few days ago. I go in and it is a wellness appointment. They ask if I can feed myself, if I am scared at home, if I can drive, If I have throw rugs, pets in the house a bunch of stuff that has little to nothing to do with my health. Took my blood pressure, listened to my heart and lungs. They said Medicare want them to do the wellness checks. Is this something that just happens at this hospital? If you are on Medicare, do you go in for Wellness appointments? I am scheduled for my annual physicals the 9th. You would think they could have ask me then. It looks like they are just trying to get an added insurance payment to me.

I suspect Medicare said they would pay for wellness checks and they interpreted that at schedule everyone we can a paycheck for the hospital separate from the checkup and get paid 2x.
but I guess it is like saying do welfare checks

Had the same thing in January. Also did cognitive tests (asked me to remember some words then tell them what they were about 5 minutes later). Asked about rubber mats for the shower, smoke detectors etc etc.
My fear of moving stairs is escalating!

Seems like it's all about the extra money for them.
I would not comply or answer all those 'none of there business' questions.

I get to go in and get blood drawn tomorrow for labs, so they will be back for the physical. That will make three trips to town in a week. If they would have told me over the phone I need to have them done I would have come in early and had the done yesterday.

They should withold the free money from people intentionally not following the protocol. who is they and who is intentionally not following what protocol. this whole thing stinks of gov money going to hospitals to get the statistics they want to see so with minimal money and effort the Gov can say they are improving senior care with out actually changing anything. probably a lot more to do with optics than benefit.

They had me do this annually. I finally told them I don't want this worthless waste of my time appointment any more.

I was asked several questions the last time I was at the doctors office that were unrelated to why I was there.
I politely answered it was not of their business.
Know of a gentleman that would fire a question back at the nurse that was typically somewhat inappropriate whenever the nurse would ask a silly question.
Example: Nurse: do you have any firearms in the house? Patient: are you wearing underwear?
Nurse: do you have anger issues? Patient: do you have hairy legs?
Some of the nurses quickly understand and move along. Some play along and think it’s hilarious. Or at least that is how he tells the story.

Just one more way to find outlets to bankrupt our nation. That is what this all is about, a piece of the pie for everyone in the medical field…. Boco, why don’t you go and break an arm and see how soon you can get in for an appointment. God forbid some sort of elective surgery. I hear it is fantastic in our northern neighbors system. SMH. I hear the walleyes are hot on Erie, go troll there….

My understanding under Medicare that anyone enrolled in any plan can have an annual physical, refer to under the system as a "wellness ckeckup". If it isn't coded like that it may be possible that Medicare will not pay for the entire visit/bloodwork.
Anything other than once a year I believe is NOT a wellness checkup.
And by the way, news headline today, Biden is looking at cutting some things in Medicare Advantage plans (administered through private insurance, not government). Would cost the subscriber approximately $350-400 per year more out of pocket. I know it's not Biden just one of his influencers. say it ain't so he was just talking up how he was improving health care for seniors in the last campaign commercial. give you a waste of time visit with one pen and take away something you used with the next pen , that seems to be how it works.

They had me do this annually. I finally told them I don't want this worthless waste of my time appointment any more. That is where I am at and what I am thinking. I will just decline. I know if I am well, they don't need to tell me. 3togo I am had a wellness check up and am having a physical six days later.

Same questions here I tried to get my bloodwork done before my annual visit but they won’t do it, you go in for your checkup then they draw your blood for testing. So the results come back after you have already seen the doctor it makes no sense really. You can read a report days later but not talk with the doctor about the results.
They don’t ask about guns in the house anymore like they did years ago. No pushing of Covid shots either that was surprising.
They said Medicare does not want to pay for 2 visits but that sounds exactly what they are doing in your case.
Was born in a Big City Will die in the Country OK with that!
