The pictures aren't that great but was wondering if anyone would know what type of tree this is. There are about two dozen over a 1/2 mile along a water way. There are Ash trees not that far from where these small saplings are starting to grow with in the last four years. You can see other small saplings starting in the picture also.

No cherry tree but I guess they could be elm. Don't know of elm here in this area though but maybe they are. There are choke cherry patch about a mile away. If you break the small branches, they don't smell like choke cherry either.

The leaves in the first picture look like Ash to me.

I have nothing clever to put here.

Doesn't look like any elm but could be ash.

swampgas chili and schmidt beer makes for a deadly combo

Ash. Elm don’t have opposite branches.

Looks very similar to a Bradford pear. They are very invasive.

I don't think there are enough leaves per leaflet grouping to be in the ash family. They look like elm, maybe slippery elm etc. or elm that like wetter conditions.

Yep, exactly the ash trees here in my yard (mature) are just starting to cluster leaves just like those now. The trunk and how they branch are typical of ash and leaf pattern points to ash.

Appears to be White ash. Note the compound leaves and the opposite pattern of branching.

Yes.

White ash cant get their feet wet = high drainage
Green ash can have their feet wet for a week or two = spring melt pools areas ith ferns
Black ash can put up going under for a month in the spring = river flood plains

The trees do show a scale insect on them a Coccidae
typical for ash
