You have to state on the paperwork that you're not a drug user. Not good enough?

But an 18 year old (even 17 if someone adult signs off on the enlistment) can kill for the good ole US of A, just can' take a long gun home until 10 days later. And look at all the 2nd Amendment up holders willing to take a knee for the administrative state. Pretty mind blowing...

P.S. I bought several firearms when I was 18 or 19 years old, including my first Mini-14. I even bought my first high power rifle when I was 13 or so but it wasn't through a store. At least we know the tman crowd who will take the knee. Probably a good thing from this thread...

Reeds blow in the wind because they have no backbone and do whatever the wind wants. If the wind pushes one direction the reed will go with it; it's a wind sock. You could compare a Reed to a spineless person as soon as adversity comes they change direction.

We had a nice little suicide by cop up here a couple of days back. Even though that's sort of thing has been around a while, I guess it's hard not to take action. Some young guy (less than 30) starts popping rounds off at a cop taking a break at the convenience store downtown about 0330. The perp retreated into the store as almost every LEO on duty converged on the place. The perp took the store clerk hostage. I guess the cops got a negotiator going but the perp wanted to complete his suicide by another so about an hour later a SWAT sniper smoked the bad guy through the front door. I suspect the SWAT sniper was shooting a .308 or something similar to have less chance of deflection going through the glass and not hitting the intended target.

Probably a more sure shot than the SWAT team (Miami area?) a month or so ago that took out a bad guy in a bank by shooting a .223 round through a computer monitor. I think that team got lucky with a clean shot with no deflection. The shooter shot from another cop's shoulder. Wild...

Truth, the second amendment of the U.S. constitution is more precious than anyones life, regardless of how many unfortunately pay the price for the many freedoms we enjoy, it all hinges on the 2nd ...That's a hard thing to swallow for many in this day & age, but this was understood in the past when life was plainly seen as the fleeting earthly existence it was, and the ultimate hope & trust was was placed in our Lord & Saviour Jesus Christ.

Today, ones own life & earthly survival are seen as paramount to everything else...The lens that society sees priorities through has changed, their values have changed, but the Constitution was brilliantly devised, and the wisdom of that document will never change.

I’ll guess he didn’t just buy the gun today or 10 days ago! These ‘rules & regulations’ just make ignorant people feel better!

Atf us the only law enforcement agency I am OK with defund. Everything they say they are trying to do for any safety is void when they got caught running guns to Mexican drug cartels in order to get more gun laws passes or so the Mexican government would try to sue our gun manufacturers.

Yet not a single head rolled.

And when 10 days doesn't get the results they say they're after, is 15 0k? 25? 60?
Maybe too much ammunition on hand is the determining factor in these cases? Let's put a 1 box per caliber limit on that, and maybe a waiting period as well. No hunting season open right now? Oh well, maybe he shouldn't even need a gun at all then.
If that's where you're thoughts are on this, you have been complacently brainwashed.

the same government that regulates safety by restricting a citizen from possession of a firearm when they want to lets millions of undocumented people in thru holes in the border.....many of those are known violent people/rapists. They also fly in people who later commit rape/violence once here...

This has been standard for about 18 months now, part of the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act of 2022. Not saying it's right, but I got the feeling some thought this was actually new.

if its an ATF decision it is a rule, non elected entities cannot make laws, if its a federal law it violates the 2nd and 10th amendments. If its a state law it violates the SC decision of Marbury v. Madison. THERE ARE NO CONSTITUTIONAL GUN LAWS!

Do you know if this is just in Kansas? Just for ARs or any long gun?

Not sure about other states but here in the socialist State of WA, it applies to ANY guns and must be 21 to purchase. Trying to make it so need to be 21 to even purchase ammo. Additionally can't buy, import, manufacture, modify magazine that hold more than 10 rounds. Nor can you purchase an AR platform weapon, FFL dealers must now have video and audio surveillance covering entire store

While I adamantly oppose any gun regulation and believe the 2A is crystal clear, I can understand how someone feels this way. Some people are unstable, uneducated about firearms and generally irresponsible.

When I'm at the gun store, around town or even on this forum, I observe people and shake my head at the thought of them having weapons. But the 2A is absolute and, as said above, one of the most important Amendments.

I also shake my head at the thought of some people having kids or voting. But they have their rights--just like I have mine. The same goes for firearms.

Freedom is indeed messy. But we have to protect the 2A at all costs.

I think the 10 day wait is great, especially if the purchase is for nefarious reasons. Gives a shooter plenty of time to pattern the target and find the opportunity that affords the greatest possibility of not getting caught.

How about we try this instead of flogging the innocent?

Next 18yo who does something dumb with a gun gets hung on the public square. Do that a few times and the other 18 year olds will straighten up and fly right.
