I miss Herter's. Before the internet--before WalMart, there was Herter's. A mail order warehouse that, if you ordered out of their catalog and sent them a check they would send you stuff in a timely manner.
I spent some time in Wisconsin in the early 70s and went to their Beaver Dam, Wisconsin store. Also bought stuff from them at their Waseca, Minnesota store. They had it all. Traps, guns, loading equipment, all manner of fishing equipment, hooks, cedar plugs, boats, outdoor gear, knives........... They even had books written by no less that George Leonard Herter on subjects like how to survive a cobalt bomb attack and how to live with a difficult woman, and, Georges world famous Herter's Bull Cookbook
Anyone out there old enough to remember them? .

I loved going through their catalogs and ordering once and a while. Gander Mountain was another good one at the time.
Eh...wot?

My Ma worked for Herters so we had all kinds of their products around the house, I think my dad had every fishing lure in their inventory and then some, when I started trapping gophers as a kid that’s where all my traps came from
Ya their easy to miss I don’t think there was anything you might need for the outdoors that they didn’t have
By he way I have several Herter made firearms including 4 different revolvers including the double action one they made all excellent shooters

You name it, they had it. I bought some of their no.2cs. for fox trapping back in the 70s along with my Victor's. They were a very strong trap. Many years later I used them for rats and mink after removing 1 of the coilsprings. They worked OK. but weren't the quality of Victor's at the time.
