Election year….where are you putting your bets. Short term CDs are running 5% and they are guaranteed. Beyond that, what sort of risk is everyone getting into? A lot has to do with who wins!

I’m talking specifics here…C’mon uncle J…this is your chance to show your real crystal balls!

90% equity 10% bond/CDs. No need for me to try to outsmart the markets I stay heavy in equity fund and never sway from that path.

50% stocks, 40% real estate, 10% cash equivalents, bonds and precious metals. I'm soon to be 73 so long term has a different meaning for me. LOL

Land, rental property, etfs, index funds, cash. In order of values but not sure of % but close to 70% in and and rental the rest in the market. Market shares grow each week and will continue.

I'm invested heavily into uranium right now. Figured something was up last summer when kid was diamond drilling up north and there was a pile of other companies drilling as well. Uranium is the clean energy future, there's a shortage, all time high prices and biden recently banned uranium from Russia. Lots of positives, I'm also fairly young and don't mind risk.

Finally found a piece of land I want, hopefully signing buyers agreement tomorrow. That'll be all my investing.

Lot of allocation percentage quotes here.
He’s asking specifics, and many hold them like playing cards.
One specific for me is Vanguard.
Matt.

Fidelity account I put Cash in tell I buy or after a sell was at 5.15% and it can be moved anytime. The rate will change with rates but it's as good or better than cd's. .

When my dad passed a few years back, couple of us kids were tasked with taking over a modest stock account he had with TD Ameritrade. He was day trading individual stocks and had screwed the pooch doing it. Lost a lot of money. Talked to one adviser and his suggestion was if we wanted to stay in the stock market, stop trying to pick winners and losers and simply invest in the stock index stocks. One of those was SPY, an S&P500 stock, the other was QQQ, a Nasdaq index stock. Both mirror the indexes nearly 100%. SPY is up about 50% over past 5 years. QQQ is up over 50% in past 1 year. These are liquid and can be bought and sold at any time.

Buy on dips or major selloffs, then hold for as long as you want to. Or if you want to milk it like a cow, buy low, sell when it's up, then wait for anther dip. Be prepared to pay taxes on the gain either way.

The Schawb US Large Cap Growth ETF has been performing well for me. It's up 35% for the year. But of course, you have to think Tech stocks will continue to do well. If Tech falls.... The biggest holdings in that ETF are Microsoft, Nvidia and Apple.

The original question is long term.
A good land buy will make you a lot of money long term.

2024 will be the 12th presidential election year I have had investments in the market, and I plan to do what I have always done during presidential election years, almost nothing. I am in my mid 70s and thus age, general economic conditions, revenue sources needed for liquidity etc. etc. weigh heavier in my decision. There are some issues or concerns this round and we meet with our financial planner in September so there will be discussion on some issues.

Bryce
