Maybe just to provide us mere mortals pleasure and allow us to marvel at His ingenuity.
She wore scarlet begonias, tucked into her curls. I knew right away, she was not like other girls.

What is the purpose of any leaf-eating insect?
Their camouflage is very interesting though.

Don’t they eat other insects? I think they eat other insects which I am happy with. No, they are leaf-eaters, mostly the leaves of deciduous trees. Are you thinking of the praying mantis? They are insect-eaters.

Putting up a few tree stands in MO not so long ago found a pair under the seat. I’ve always thought walking sticks and praying mantis were cool and unusual maybe because you don’t see them often.

That's great Hern, most of the ones I see are on my front screen door too. We have loads of praying mantis around here, brown and green. Not lots of walking sticks that I noticed though

I hadn't seen walking sticks for 20 years until I moved to MS. Now I've seen three or four over the past several years. They're one of my favorite bugs.
