Set up a marketing plan or firm and then in my opinion set up a responsible or reasonable percentage that goes in those funds on a regular basis. A basis and an amount that you can do in all stages of your life and will reflect the income you are earning at those stages of your life. Investing can also cover a wide variety of goals. Retirement, housing, higher education, weddings etc. etc. Responible spending is probably more important long term than worrying about making the very best investment vehicles. It does not matter if you have outstanding earning opportunites if you don't have any money to put into them.

There are 2 types of investing - short term and long term. You should consider both.

Short term - buying a car when you are 16.

Long term - retirement when you are 65. Sooner if you plan well.

Also, you don’t have to invest large amounts all at once. Start small, $10.00 or $20.00 per pay check. You will be surprised how fast it grows. Plus, it will leave you with plenty of spending money for now. Remember - you want to buy canine traps for the upcoming season.

Ok wissmiss that's what il do.

The one thing that I'm super confused about is where do I buy the stocks?? Does the company have a website where they sell them or do I call them or what.

And the app someone mentioned I am definitely getting

Boco gave you some excellent advice.

I got myself a seniors' GPS.
Not only does it tell me how to get to my destination,
it tells me why I wanted to go there.

Go back and really take your time and read the link that Waggler posted. That's how you invest. Since you are under 18 you will need what is known as a custodial account, which means your parents must open the account for you. The fidelity link Waggler posted is one option, there are others. Here's some more: https://www.nerdwallet.com/best/investing/custodial-accounts

You buy the stocks through a brokerage firm, which is a company that sells stocks to the public, to put it in simple terms. Fidelity is a brokerage firm. So is Interactive Brokers, E-trade, and all of the other companies listed on the link I gave you. You will open an account with one of those companies, put money into that account, and then choose which stocks or ETFs, or mutual funds you want.

I like buying on line - Charles Schwab. No fees but also no in person advice.

If you go with an in person advisor, shop around for some one you feel comfortable with.

I think starting out, savings accounts and CDs are the way to go. Stock market can wait until you are older.

Roth IRAs are a good deal - but they are long term. Like 50 years for some one your age. Money is locked up unless you pay early withdrawal penalties.

NTO - I believe that you've asked your questions with short term goals in mind if I read your post correctly. I'll admit that I skimmed it along with some of the replies. If no one has mentioned it, do some research on how compounding interest works. This is certainly a more longterm oriented goal, but if you start early, there's no reason you cannot be more than comfortable when you retire. Not instant gratification, but powerful stuff to know about.

A lot of parents don't know much about investing. So good education and talking with the youngster if he learns and informs himself it's very likely the parents can learn from the kid

I understand this thinking. But it also leads to the common debt slave common life most people live and YOLO ( you only live once) mentality. He is on the right path looking for education and is more likely to become a millionaire in his 40s or sooner if he starts at his young age. Don't discouraged him.

Split your money up more into mutipal pots. Pot for long term out first for retirement automatically say 10 to 15% 35 to 50% for mid term savings life a few years out like your truck and 25 to 35% to spend now. No fun working if you never enjoy some of it.

Most important is developing good money management and saving skills young. That will follow and benefit you your entire life.

Yah my main problem is SPENDING.

I want to buy stocks and stuff but I don't think my mom will allow it, because they do not invest what so ever.

I might start investing when I get all my seasons supplies so I can do that I want this year. And I could make some spare change off the furs to put towards my truck.

I don't think I'm over my post limit yet.
