since a hundred years ago they were working on selling everyone the idea that you should buy store bought foods , breads, and other packaged or convenience foods even corn bread mix rather than just corn meal and flour.
simplify and convenience everything until it happened , the majority of the population has no idea how to cook , they can read instructions off a box and re-heat but basic cooking skills are mostly lost. many people who get take and bake or heat and eat everything.
ask someone in the isle at the store their recipe for pancakes ,I would guess >90% they start by telling you their preferred box mix.
Another interesting observation , people don't know how to do simple cooking, canning or growing and harvesting their own. The price of canning supplies is to the point, it costs more to can your own food than to buy it. There's ways around this total control agenda.
Another thing , they're blaming food costs on the producers, yet the price of fuel and everything to operate a farm has tripled , yet this government wants to put a price freeze of a farmers products? It that doesn't scream socialism and communism , what the heck does?
The deal with fuel IMHO: Just because the tomato farmer has to spend double in fuel To run his/her tractor, farm trucks to haul tomatoes to the packer, doesn't mean that farmer can charge more for his product to help offset fuel cost. The farmer gets paid what the market is paying for tomatoes. Now speaking with my buddy that runs a truck brokerage, he has to pay the haulers a lot more because of fuel prices to get the product to his buyers. I'm not saying fuel costs are what is totally responsible for the cost of consumer products, but the COST of FUEL is in the equation with inflation.

Greed and power are the issues imo. And they must be incredibly tempting because almost every politician, at every level, eventually succumb to them. Need to remove the temptation somehow.

wheat price has been up and down and this is not that big of a change considering where it's highs and lows have been it is still meaning the farmer is short changed at 6.17
who ever said this is how you get communism , you are correct, you blame the farmers for greed while they are making less per bushel and the price doesn't equal what the consumer is paying , you find a bunch of usefully idiots to champion the plan selling it and when they realize what they helped to do , they are too busy starving in a gulag to tell anyone.
I suggest you find a farm that will sell you pigs and cows at market price , get a couple families to split the cow and do the work. it only takes a couple hours to get a cow hanging in 1/4s in the garage you just need it to be cool enough to let it hang and cool.
in a pinch a big chest freezer will work to get you cool , I did the last cow in 90 degree heat , and it turned out just fine , she had to be put down that day

Years ago had a cow try to jump over a stall, broke it's neck on the overhead beam. Butchered it with just knives and a hand meat saw. My dad was in charge of everything, I was still a teenager. But we did it.
As a small farmer that produces cattle,produce ,and a little bit of row crop I can say our profits have nothing to do with food prices. Government price control would only kill small guys like me. It takes my successful cabinet shop to subsidize my farm now. We take no government money and the only way under gov control prices would be subsidies. Who ever controls your food controls you.

a few knives and a hand saw , sometimes a Sawzall with a clean blade
the forks on the skid steer help, I chain the gambrel to the fork and most of the time I get a helper to lift as I work but I have done it myself , a chain hoist and a strong meat pole would work
