Wow.

Money cannot buy you happiness, but it can buy you a trapping license and that's pretty close.

The best trap is worthless without a good trapper. The trapper is the important thing, not the trap

...This

Plus, if you're setting your DJs for mink you'd better be prepared to catch every raccoon in 3 counties along the way LOL.

Just happy to be here.

Any trap for mink will do that.

Coon are caught and have been caught probably with the highest amount of variety of traps of any species. There are many very reliable coon traps. I believe that reliability comes more from the care and maintenence of the traps and how they are set and anchored. Knowing the situations you are in or will set in can also influence the types and sizes of traps one uses. That comes from knowledge and experience.

I've had exceptional experiences with no b.s. double jaw 1.5's. Only coon I've lost in them was a twist off dye to my own rookie mistake. I've been so impressed with the no b.s. traps that when I graduate school and get my money right I'm going to have a whole line of them.

To be fair, I have heard guys talk about getting yotes in their fox sets in 1.5's. Who on this earth is using a 1.5 for coyote Is beyond me though.

Well guys my first no bs 1.5s regular jaws where horrible but I tried out a few no bs dj for some coons and the one had chewed but it still held it and I caught a feral cat by its chest hair, no I’m not even kidding so I am really liking no bs djs but I’m scared to buy some cause my first batch had the jaws popping off when I caught a coon.

Could someone give me brands and sizes of traps? Dukes are cheap and that is the only brand I will not consider

That's odd. I got the first generation after Kendall started making them not the modified dukes he was selling.

There really isn't a new mainstream production trap today that won't reliably hold coon. For dryland coon I might switch to MB 459s, I might checkout the new duke versions if anyone has em this weekend
