I can’t wrap my head around something and can’t seem to shake it.

I’ve got a couple of hunting and fishing buddies that have to ‘ask permission’ if they can go hunt or fish. If the wife complains too much, they’ll bow out or cancel. Just can’t fathom this.

I spend time with my wife during the offseason and often do things that wouldn’t be high on my list like an occasional road trip to a winery and stuff like that, but she knows that Spring time is turkey hunting, shad runs, crappie fishing and bass spawning time. Fall is dove, archery, ML, duck season and checking traps. She doesn’t make any plans for us during these seasons and just assumes that I’m outdoors. She’s never made a face or complained.

I will say I’ve always made Holidays a family priority and always put kids’ school and sports first, but outside of that, I’m outside when I need to be.

Any of y’all deal with this kind of thing at home or with friends??

Apparently your friends treat their woman differently than you. Heck, during my hip recovery mine drove me to the woods and dropped me off for a little while just so I could sit. She knows the outdoors is what keeps me normal. It’s all in the woman you marry and how you treat her.

Maybe so. I’ve seen you post family pics and talk up your wife. I try to do the same with mine. I consider it more of a common respect between us. That either of us would tell the other NO or try to pull a guilt trip just doesn’t register for me.

I just have to take mine with me, she gets mad if I go fishing while she has to work but she still goes. She is a big help out trapping and holds a leg while gutting. Beats all my other hunting partners, she’s way better looking and don’t play the who can rip the biggest fart game. Maybe I’m whipped?

Have lost some great gals because of it.
I wanna be outdoors. It's who I am. I could care less about family functions. Actually makes me uncomfortable being in them.
I don't have ANY dress clothes, shoes ect.
What you see with me is what you get...Always.
My mom,dad, brother and sisters know (unless the weather is horrible), if I have a deer tag in my pocket,traps to check,ect, good chance I won't make it to the " shindiggs".
They all know now not to throw the guilt trip on me.
I'm not a " special occasion " type person.

No quilt. Just honest.
Heck, just me being somewhere I don't wanna be can ruin it for those that want to be there.
They all can feel the vibe..

My wife said to tell you I'm not whipped.
She will go anywhere with me I ask her to. Just being together no matter where.

My buddy and I were trapping In SC. Missed sending his wife a valentines day card. I heard her yelling at him over the phone. He got In his truck and left that day, Talk about being whipped.
Then he had the nerve wanting a share of the fur I CAUGHT after he left. After I had to pick up all the steel and skin all that fur at the end of the season.

I don’t know about whipped but gosh I’d do anything for my wife and I’m (This word is unacceptable on Trapperman) lucky to have her. I tell her all the time I’m the luckiest guy in the world.

My wife loves to hunt and fish. And goes with me often. But she also likes me to go by myself also.
She doesn't have much interest in trapping. YET

First anniversary, up at 4am told her happy anniversary as I headed out the door to go chase turkeys. We settled that issue when I got in about dark. The next weekend she learned to turkey hunt. Lots of things that gal has learned in the last 25 years, setting my schedule ain't one of them.

I know the type, they can’t do anything without the wife’s blessings. used to get frustrated when I was running a coal mine. On Thursday, I’d ask the day shift if I had any volunteers to work Saturday ( overtime ). There was always guys who would tell me they needed to ask their wife first. I’d always respond,” Listen Bud, I’m trying to make up a work roster. I don’t want your wife to work, I’m asking you….yes or no. “

When I had the opportunity to work extra, I took the overtime. One income family, the extra money made a big difference.

Maybe they don't really like you and are using their wives as an excuse to get out of being with you.

I always ask my wife because she would never say No, unless there was something important that day, that my pee brain forgot.......

Whipped doesn’t mean that a man doesn’t pursue his passions…necessarily.
Chuckie loves to golf but he usually will go do 18 holes if I have to work on a Saturday. He saves our days off together so we can do stuff as a couple.
If he has a scramble or other event, I try to arrange something so I’m not home and bored without him.
Mostly if we have time off together we fish and hunt together. But I’m just fortunate in that aspect I think.

Yeah… considered it, but I’m pretty awesome. I’m generally the one approached with the plans to do something as well.

Working opposite schedules suck,,,,,

got her knock up 3 times, and she got to be a stay home mom/creative person on how to make money off dirt.

I guess I got lucky. My wife was weak and said yes 38 years ago. She never hunted or anything outdoors really, girls weren't allowed to do that in her family. I took her on a couple deer pushes and she wanted to shoot my gun, I let her and it was all outdoors from there. Now she deer, hunts, bear hunts, turkey hunts, and traps. She is the best outdoors person in her entire family, 8 kids. I love being in the outdoors with her, and she knows I love it. We work the land etc.

Now my son, is so, uhmm, whipped, is an understatement, manipulated, and controlled. Just shake my head but cannot keep my mouth shut. World revolves around her and he will not see it. His choice, leads to disrespect for the rest of us though.

It's called being a simp.
