I remember after school me and some of my buddies would leave school and jump shoot a few potholes before we went home. I remember one of those days I got a Ruddy duck. Really cool duck! Of course, we had our shotguns and ammo in our vehicles while we attended classes. Try that today!

That is quite the mixed bag there.
I have nothing clever to put here.

Great job. But in Ky if you shot those geese you better not have any lead shot on you or in the truck. Of course you might have used steel on all of them... Can't use lead on any waterfowl anywhere. Used steel and all of them EXCEPT the geese. I used some tungsten loads.

Nice action!!
I saw some local honkers this evening on a run back from my fading "north" garden and my off-grider friend's tomatoes that are on the count down clock to extinction.
Of course, those honkers were coming off the harvested field after official sundown and were untouchable. Of course, the situation didn't exist 40+ years ago but we still have to obey 125 year old laws (hey wildlife cops, Teddy Roosevelt and Gifford Pinchot are long dead and this isn't 1900 after 150 years of excess, but whatever).
Maybe someday, just to be ornery, I may line up about three or four of such early season, local honkers and roll them all over with a single .22-250 round. Then again, maybe not.
Arrest me now, I've created a thought crime!!

Please excuse my ignorance, but what are the ones with the long beaks? Snipe/rails, shore birds.

Please excuse my ignorance, but what are the ones with the long beaks? These are snipe. Really comparable to shooting bobwhites on the wing. That was a great day of hunting I have done a fair share of waterfowl hunting over the years Pass shooting ,over decoys jump shooting and even hunting from a sneak boat And it is all fun I know some duck hunters frown on any type of duck hunting other than hunting them over decoys My experience has been it takes an extraordinary amount of knowledge ,patience and skill to be good at jump shooting ducks Know where to look for them ,how to use the cover to get close for a good shot And using good shooting skills when deciding which birds to shot at when they jump Great day of duck hunting and great post Thanks for posting Lots of guys frown at jump shooting. I do love watching them come into the decoys, but sometimes you just have to mix it up!
