Seen lots of pictures of it on here over the years, never seen it in person. Ran across this duck hunting Saturday. Is this chicken of the woods?

this is what our hen of the woods looks like and it will be growing on a tree not the ground , it is often at the base of the tree on a root making it a shelf mushroom.

I ate this one. both good tasting and I didn't die , that was last years picture. The same tree had more this year but seasons what they were they were passed good on the same week this year.


America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

Chicken of the woods and hen of the woods are two very different mushrooms. Both edible, but not at all the same. Top pic looks like chantrelles to me, but I’ve never seen them this late.
