the little pressure pump would catch then not , I took it apart , just putting oil down the maintenance hole only seems to oil one side of the leather cup

I had been watching videos and messaged a little oil into the rest of the leather cup and , now it pumps quite well

found a little cotton bag something came in , got a long lighter , tongs , spatula , 2 forks and 2 spoons in that little sack and it hides in the stove well . also ripped up some towel and added a rag that doubles as a pot holder and I found my little fuel funnel and added that to the stove as well

all it needs is a pot that stores in the dry goods box

I heated some more water and cooked lunch on it yesterday to get more run time make sure all is good

the hardware store my son works at sells white gas so I bought a can figure it will store better like that and when it is getting used a lot I can run 91

I have a spare leather kit in the cart when I get around to ordering it.

Awesome.
The Leather pump cups usually just need to soak up oil and swell a bit. The new plastic cups get brittle and are harder to bring back to life once they get hard, but both are easy to replace in the field. Maybe that’s what was going in the little cloth bag, an extra pump? lol

the cloth bag didn't come with the stove
it was from some coffee thing my wife bought I found it in the house
when I get them ordered a spare leather and the 2 little washers that come with it will go in the bag

I use mine for outdoors projects like lead melting, trap waxing, etc... I have at least two but there may be three in the shop. I take out the plunger which is leather in mine and soak them in motor oil for a few hours about ever two years. Seem to always work. I've used non-ethanol gas quite a bit in it and my lanterns as well.

Some of the finest meals I ever ate been cooked on a coleman stove. Be away from camp 10-12-14 hours hunting fishing trapping whatever and pretty near starved of an evening has a lot to do with that most likely.

Stove went down so I have a 2 burner in my kitchen I'm using daily, works great. Bought the LP adapter for the 20 lb tanks, they last 7-8 months.
I have one of those pump caps for my Svea back pack stove, really a time saver, they and parts can be had from REI or most any other outdoor type store.
I also have a Coleman single burner camp stove that really works great too.
When I came home from the 'Nam in '72, I was in K-Mart and caught a blue light special for Coleman stuff. bought a 2 burner stove, (using it in the kitchen now), a lantern, and a heater for $10 ea your pick.

good stuff Bob
I remember Blue light specials

the 2 burner stove new at REI is 198 now

just in inflation 10 dollars would be 75 dollars now , I bet they were selling at cost for 10 dollars and selling fuel at full price hoping to make up the difference.

If you run the old white gas version with LP, you can get a lot more heat out of the burners than a new LP version. The burners on the white gas are larger.

I have 2 of these, 1 is always in the basement, ready to go when we lose power.

I like white gas better than propane. Works in cold weather. A full tank of white gas lasts a bunch longer than a one pound propane bottle also.

21,548 btu per pound of LP and 4.24 pound per gallon and 14.6oz per empty cylinder you would be just over 8 pound for 86,192 BTU in 4 1 pound cans at a cost of 20 dollars on about the best sale I could find.

125,000 btu per gallon of Naphtha/white gas/Coleman fuel 6.18 pounds per gallon at 15 dollars for the Walmart price

68% of the heat for 1/3 more cost

the same BTU in LP costs you 52% more in weight

if weight and temp are not an issue and you invest in a 5 , 11 , or 20# cylinder adding even more weight , the cost goes down per unit of LP but you have a 50 dollar tank to figure in

I didn't have to buy a tank for my propane stove. I had three or four at the time. I run fish house heaters off the too. I never have filled a bottle for the propane stove. I just use what ever propane is around here for the fish house heater. I have two white gas stoves also. I have one that is square cornered and has the two rod legs that fold up over the top when it is closed. I have never looked at it to see what model it is. It was in the basement of the house when I bought it in 1994. It is an older one, I would guess in the 1950's or older. The only place I would use white gas is in the gas stove.

I dont know anything about those numbers but I have a propane stove out in the garage somewhere. Its set up for for quart size looking throw away bottles. They run out to fast. Lots faster than a tank of white gas. If its cold the stove wont work till you get the tent heated up for awhile. Those are observable facts. If propane works for you then thats great.

Those small 1 lb tanks can be refilled with an adapter from Harbor Freight.
