If prices are going to go up why didn't they during Trump's first term? He had tariffs then.

Tarrifs will have to be pretty high to make u.s products price competitive with chinese products. I think they wwill not be set that high and we will just be paying more for chinese products.

Apparently 1984 was a documentary.

Old administration: prices are rising, it's terrible, its because the leader is an idiot

New administration: prices are going to rise, it's okay, it's because the leader is smart

As far as cheap crap at walmart and competing with China......until we can start paying 12 year olds to solder electronics for 50 cents and hour, and force political prisoners to make cheap throw-away junk for free. we'll never be able to compete with China.

From what I've seen over the years, there are all kinds of things that can cause inflation, some the economy overall like we've seen the last 4 years and some only effects a certain product/sector.

History says Trump countered any inflation tariffs caused with other means, mainly energy. We'll know in 4 years and I'm guessing it'll go like his first 4

atv sxs prices will be affected not just because of tariffs. Yamaha is going out of business. Your only options are going to be Polaris or Can Am shortly, kawasaki. Yamaha is getting rid of engineers and alot of staff, same way they started getting rid of Arctic Cat.

If there is one thing that ........almost all economists agree on .....it is that tariffs are a net negative for everyone. They raise prices overall and protect a few jobs while costing many jobs in the secondary and tertiary levels.

I used to know the numbers of jobs"saved" in the steel industry compared to the jobs lost because of higher prices. But you can get an idea from the article below.
It also seems like a bad idea to make non essential products here that can be made cheaper elsewhere. Comparative advantage is something to exploit......not discard .

Not only did he keep them, he increased some of them back in September; to 100% on electric vehicles, to 50% on solar cells and to 25% on electrical vehicle batteries, critical minerals, steel, aluminum, face masks and ship-to-shore cranes.

Eh...wot?
