330 floats. Den entrances feed holes deep water channells pressure sets at dams.

My regs only let me use snares in water. So I'm kinda limited..

Lay a log parallel to the bank leaving a gap between the log and the bank. Wire the log to an anchor (stake) with enough wire to allow the log to rise with the water level. Put vertical posts jammed into the bottom on each side of the log one third of the way from the front and back. The posts hold the log in position in relation to the bank. Hang snares from log and positioned in the gap between log and bank. Add lure. It's some work, but is effective.

I deal with fluctuating water levels all the time. I pay attention to the Noaa river levels site and just hold off until water levels are coming down for a couple few days and set up heavy then. But it is an age old problem for beaver trappers in some areas including mine. Check out this from Astor's Pacific Fur Company in 1813 on the river I trap today: And remember, they were trapping with just 6' of chain on those traps!

I forgot about that set,,,,,, snares are not legal so i used 660s,,,,,even more work,,, thanks for the memory,,,…..

I know what works here. Takes about 5 minutes to construct the set . I'm sure it is illegal there.

I was thinking about doing something similar with a good sized stick of bamboo. Instead of a log.

Similar premise as what Paul is describing, Google “Trapperman Beaver Torpedo” and guys like Aix Sponsa have posted pictures and descriptions over the years about how they combat these conditions with a piece of pvc pipe and snares. Highly effective. Floating log or pvc either works
Gotta live up to the nickname...
