I like the no magazine capacity limit, requirement to pay legal bills if the bill ignored. A lot of good stuff. I have a feeling that states who will issue a license mail order to non residents, are going to make some money. My state and other constitutional carry states may lose some as no one will pay for a license as it wont be needed anywhere.

Long past due IMO.

State self defense laws might be a problem if you need use it. Many communist states are almost as bad as England when it comes to defense of self or others.

In NY there's 7 circumstances where it's legal to use deadly physical force written into the CPL, it's still there, but you better not use it unless under extreme emergency, and even then these soros bought prosecutors will hang you out to dry....

Yep. Even if they let us carry without a permit, it would still be a pain and financial disaster possibly if you had to use it in self defense. Rules for me but not for them.

I'm hoping it will pass in some form. Being on a boarder with MN it should save me the couple hundred dollars it cost me for my MN permit. MN likes to fight WI on reciprocity on more than one issue CC is one.
Time ever comed guy needs to actually use their carry gun. Going to be a bad mess sorting it out no matter the laws or state.

Danny, I think you might be misreading this.
The way I read the text of the bill a person will still be required to possess a CC permit from his own state of residence, in addition to a government issued piece of photo ID.

“(1) an individual who is not prohibited by Federal law from possessing, transporting, shipping, or receiving a firearm, and who is carrying a government-issued photographic identification document and a valid license or permit which is issued pursuant to the law of a State and which permits the individual to carry a concealed firearm, may possess or carry a concealed handgun (other than a machinegun or destructive device) that has been shipped or transported in interstate or foreign commerce in any State other than the State of residence of the individual that—"

I am just pleased that this is NOT a federal CC permit.

The repercussions are what always make me afraid of what would happen if I had to defend myself or my family, but i guess they beat being dead.

Shame how things work in some situations.

So then how would that work for states like mine that do not require a CC permit? If I don't have a CC permit because my state doesn't require it, would I be allowed to travel through other states with a concealed handgun?

Indiana does not require a permit, but does issue them. Does MS offer a permit? I had my lifetime permit before IN stopped requiring one, and I am glad I have it because of reciprocity in other states.

Just my opinion.........I think you would not be allowed to carry in another state that DOES require a permit if you state does not.

However.....if your state ......like mine....... doesn't require a permit but DOES make one available.......then it seems reasonable to me that you will be required to have a permit from your state.
Otherwise.......lets pretend you go to California (for some completely irrational reason) where a California resident is required to have a CC permit. It would not be equitable to allow you to CC in CA without a permit while California residents must have a permit..........IMO

That sounds reasonable. Montana has permittless carry. I still have my MT permit, which was required for my Utah permit. THAT permit is the one that allows carry in most all the states in the country. When my update is required again, I will inquire what may be needed for my Utah permit, since I no longer need this for the state of MT. They MAY require some ID of residence and driver's license , regardless.

Just like the schoolroom "pass", I'm sure those anti carry states would guide one to obtain such , if needed.

Yes, like IN and AK, my state does have CC permits available so that's definitely an option. I was just curious how the issue of states that don't mandate CC permits would be handled under this legislation.
