Just a dream, but wondering what it would actually take to eliminate corporate greed, foreign out-sourcing, foreign investments in our infrastructure, and truly bring back American Pride in production and the small businesses that made this country. Some can argue that our current level of greed arrived from the beginning of the American industrial revolution. No doubt that Vanderbilt, Carnegie, Rockefeller, & Morgan lead the charge in creating empires and buying up or destroying other companies along the way. But even amongst their reign, small companies thrived and produced outstanding quality.

Today, whenever I buy something that's labeled made or assembled in the USA, it feels like I'm committing to fixing it out of the box. More and more I feel like its a case of yes, I'll fix your made on Monday mistakes. Yes, I do buy products still that are Made In USA and I think are superior to others. But they come from small companies where pride and craftmanship is the defining difference. However so many other items are becoming junk. Either grossly under engineered, poor craftsmanship, or just crap materials. I'm not debating the cheaper landed cost of China products - I've worked as Manufacture Rep for decades and I know exactly how that works. But when we decide to spend the higher cost of Made in USA, doesn't that come with a legitimate expectation of higher quality? Sure would be nice to have that level of pride again.

The sad truth is our young people are not being taught the value of hard work, pride in workmanship, honoring and following supervision. Employers here struggle to find quality employees that are committed to making a superior product efficiently as in days of old. These labor force challenges combined with government over-regulation and union bargaining forces really put domestic corporations at a disadvantage. In many cases the foreign product is as good a quality (and sometimes better) at a lower cost. And with the horrible economy we have at present consumers have to stretch their dollars pretty far.

All that said, I look for and try to buy American made as much as possible and will continue to do so. But, it seems to me we need to refocus on teaching our youth good old fashioned American values or we will continue to fail in this regard.

United we stand.

very good point. In line with Mike Rowe's podcasts on skilled labor shortages. Kids are brainwashed into "must have college education" when reality is they can make much more in the trades

Never happen Corporate greed is fueled by shareholders. People making millions using "others" money to play and manipulate. Powers to be that control things that sway markets get paid by the ones in charge of the market. Current Market is a classic example. Some stocks trading at 70 times dividenUnheard of until this last boom.
Yes corporations are posting record profits but where does that come from. Majority is record prices ;ie inflation. Not a coincident that record profits and record high prices are happening at the same time. Look at the late 70's when inflation was 15-20 percent. Companies weren't making record profits they were going broke ! Closing down.

I think most people would prefer to buy the "Made in the U.S.A" label but, most times we decide with our wallets. Even if cheaper does not mean a better bargain.
I look for the label, too. Does that mean I will never buy a Duke trap again? Not likely.
What percentage of Walmart, Amazon or Temu items carry the label?

ergo, bibamus.

The few liberals I know of are all freaking out and ordering from Amazon like crazy because they are afraid President Trump's tarrifs will raise the price on the cheap foreign products they crave. Liberal, America First people are likely non existent.
