For those of you that had a total knee replacement, are you able to kneel down or is there a lack of flexibility and/or too much discomfort preventing you to do so?

I’ve had a partial and a total knee replaced. I have complete use of that totally replaced knee BUT I worked my rear off with PT to make it so. Lots of OW-OW-OW! My wife also has a total knee replacement and she does not have full recovery. The one big deal for me is that when I bend down on that knee there is only skin between the artificial knee and the surface I’m kneeling on and that hurts! LOL
I’m 78 and I will NEVER get the other knee replaced. Nope, not ever another one!

Plenty of people in my family has had it done. Can not emphasize enough to do all the rehabilitation exercises. DO THOSE EXERCISES!!! my dad did less than minimal on his first knee and only had about 70% of the expected mobility. He learned and exercised as he needed for the second one and it was a world of difference. Few others I know had the same issues
The only thing worse than losing........Is QUITTING!

Have both knees replaced 3 yrs apart. Highly recommend the knee bending machine for PT. Scar tissue got me twice, that machine helped me greatly. You will be able to bend down ,I learned different ways up & down on my knees, I can't move as fast. If I have to be on my knees I also wear knee pads, and I got a real good pr. Do your PT, everyday, on time and no short cuts. It will be painful, first 2 days. But If you want relief and recovery, PT, in my opinon more important then surgery. Most walking in week. I had scar tissue took me month, but was walking with cane in 2 wks. Darn glad I only had 2 legs and knee caps

My wife had one of hers replaced 2 springs ago. Definitely do what's mentioned above about the PT and exercises. She has regained her mobility and strength. She can kneel down but still some pain once in awhile. She also started going back to the gym and has passed all or her personal bests from when she was younger. Her dad had both his knees replaced back in November and is getting along pretty good. He is a farmer and raises cattle so he is always moving around or jumping in some tractors. If you want to talk with her about how it all went let me know. We make it down to IF regularly.

I'm going under the knife on Feb 7th. I'm doing PT twice a day and I'm up to 80 reps on each exercise.

I had a total knee replacement done about 3 years ago. Except for a few weeks right after the surgery and the start of therapy it's really been just a small bump in the road. My knee does click with every step but I do anything I want and never give the knee a second thought. But I do wear a good pair of knee pads when I want to work on stuff at or near the ground. The knee was a piece of cake ...along with a hip replacement. But just had major back surgery and after 5 weeks it's still kinda putting a crimp in my life activities ! Good Luck !!!

I did have trouble getting my new knee and leg to straighten so I’d lay on the floor with my foot elevated and place a 10lb weight on the knee for 1/2 hr twice a day. I remember a lot of pain about the 20 min mark!
