I'd go with Howa 1500 (under $500) or a Weatherby Vanguard (under $600) .

The ones I've bought live up to the under 1" group guarantee.

There comes a point liberalism has gone too far, we're past that point.

I forgot about howa…..
I use a model 1 ….. and hand loads
Down side is that it rips yotes in half
Upside is I am still quick and can feed the tube…

I’ve got a couple Bergara rifles and one is a B14 Ridge in 22-250. Very nice gun and super accurate. Action is very smooth and gun is well balanced.

X 2 on the Begara. These are shots 21-25 on a brand new Begara ridge 22-250 a month or so ago. It is nice when the 5th handload you are trying looks like this. I will shelf it until we have some nice warm calm days this spring to mess with it any more.

The Ruger Predator Gen1 has a threaded barrel. 6.6# so by the time you add suppressor, full mag and thermal it would still be 10# or under. I have the Predator in .308 and mine weighs an even 10#. I could swap thermals and get it down lower by a pound.

I have a Remington and a savage in .22-250. Both shoot really well but I do like the Remington a little more

I would have said Ruger American gen2 but they don't offer the 22-250 in that yet , maybe an AI ,ag conflict . unsure why

there seem to be a few brands that don't offer what you would consider a light or even normal weight 22-250 especially bad if you want a threaded muzzle.

Mostly will be walking in so weight is a factor. I was noticing that a lot of them do seem heavy.

the Tikka light or the Ruger Pedator gen 1
unless you were thinking 243 would be OK but since the thread is what 22-250
I would be hoping the predator gen 2 line would have 22-250 soon , might be worth calling Ruger

Tikka is also in the process of making all their guns come with threaded muzzles
Tikka has a cool feature that you can do barrel swaps they have such tight tolerances that it is basically screw it in and done , you should check head space but they say you almost don't need to.

Tikka has their T3x supervarmint , only down side is 8.6 pounds to start so add 1.5 pounds of optic and you are at 10 pounds.
not bad but not great if you do a lot of walking a good sling helps

it all comes down to how much do you want a threaded muzzle right now and what are you willing to compromise for it

it is really nice to watch impact through the scope when you are running a brake or can

"varmint " rifles some one got in their head Varmint shooting was sitting at a bench shooting prairie dogs all day , so heavy barrel to dissipate heat and maintain rigidity and heavy gun to improve stability on a bench.

where it is a lot more likely coyote calling you have a 1/4 to half mile walk in , yes the coyote weight on the way out

the manufactures keep giving us more of what they want but not always all of what we want.

the super varmint and the predator gen 2 are right there
the super varmint is like could you shed the weight of the optic and the predator is like could you make it in 22-250

with a good sling if you shoot off sticks or a bipod the super varmint in 22-250 would be really nice

if you do a Lot of walking like public and where everything is walk in then the Lite or predator gen 1

a gun at 8 pounds ready to shoot is a very carriable all day gun , something about 10+ just wears out the arm.

I know it is ounces and little details , but that those things make a difference

I had a Savage in 22-250 and really liked it. I also had a Tikka in 300WSM that I used for elk hunting. Both were fine rifles. I wouldn't hesitate to buy either one.

My doctor suggested I start doing squats, so I moved all the beer to the bottom shelf of my fridge.

Have shot Savage, Remington BDL 700's, own Tikka T 3, excellent rifle, adjustable trigger, bought it several years back. Didn't like the stock replaced it with KRG Whiskey. The new models, have several styles of chassis, priced reasonable, for todays prices on rifles. Owned Rem 700 BDL heavy barrel, for years, 1 of the best shooting rifles out of the box, i have ever shot. It was a late 90's Rem. Shot couple models 2006 up with plactic stocks, were not so good. Let friend talk me out of my Rem 700 heavy barrel, for prairie dog shooting, mistake on my part. Did have my Tikka T 3, barrel cherakoted, was shiny black and thinkingt snow calling yotes, were picking up barrel on sunny days.

Mine's an old Parker Hale I bough in 1986. It shoots sub min groups all day. It's got a thin barrel and is light. Look for one online used. I have shot it a lot- The barrel is still great. If I need a new barrel it is easily replaceable. Great rifle - say what you want about the old Mauser actions but it is very reliable. I wouldn't be afraid to buy on in any caliber.

savage seems un-nessicarily heavy in everything they do

their ultralightweight is 6 pounds , the ruger predator 2 not claiming to be light weight is 6.7 pounds , the Tikka T3x lite is 6.6

a lot of the savage guns are running 9+

I had a Tikka in 22 250. Didn't shoot good at all sent it back, they worked it over, sent it back same thing. Sold it and bought another one, same thing so I sold it. And yes I tried 6 different factory loads in both. Found 2 ruger hawk eyes at an estate sale, looked like brand new. I bought both for $1000 for the two. They both are tack drivers. Friend of mine has a savage not sure of the model but it's a tack driver

I have a Savage XP with Acua trigger and have been very pleased with it. The only thing I have ever done with it was rework the trigger as recomended. Don't recall all the details but it is a sweet shooter.

Howa (Vanguard same thing just fancier) and Tikka. I have three and absolute tack drivers - even after thousands of rounds.

Determine the type and weight of the bullet you want to spin and select the twist accordingly.

Old Rem 700 actions are great, but the barrels suck donkey balls and burn out fast.

Hey thanks for all of the replies so far! I might be more confused now though! Sounds like a bunch of good options.
