Scouted this yesterday....it's the next stop on the nuisance beaver list.

It's raining and I'm sitting in my truck at a property gate waiting for it to slow up some before unloading SxS to go check traps....so I'm on Tman...lol. I'm already wet from 1st stop this morning...but it colder now.

Swamp wolf, you have to trailer the SS? Not sure if any fit into a full size truck.

Looks like an easy place to get a SXS stuck; pretty boggy looking. Not an easy place to trap. I guess I'm just old..... frown

My wife wants me to wear a bracelet that belonged to her grandfather. It says, "Do Not Resuscitate".

Swamp, you got a tundra with an 8 foot bed?

Gotta live up to the nickname...

Yes....

At least I think it's 8ft.

Those are 9ft drowning rods diagonally in bed in the pic.

330s in the crossovers and channels near the dam. Footholds in a tray at a couple dam breaks. Easy peasy!

Hopefully your snakes are still sleeping. I hate snakes in general but at least the rattlers are polite and usually give you a little warning before they strike.

I have nothing clever to put here.

Saw 1st one of this winter this morning while tearing a bigger breach in a dam. Cottonmouth was down in the sticks and logs that made up the dam. I disturbed his sleep and all I saw was about 12" of its tail end as it slid off a log I rolled over with the tater rake. Snake went between my feet and into muddy water downstream. Never saw it resurface.

I'd caught 2 beavers at this dam past few days in footholds. Been all over the jam where snake was.

That's trapping in the South!!!

Looks fun to me, snakes and all. It was 30 below again last night, but we got up to five below for the high. Beaver trapping here right now would look different then that.

Not really. It's a gas hog...but good truck otherwise.

I paid $36,000 plus finance charges back in 2016. Paid it off a few years ago.

I had 3 locations in 2 counties set. Pulled 1 location today (in that cold rain.) Caught 11 there in 7 days..

Other 2 locations have produced only 1 beaver in 4 days. It's challenging to go behind another trapper sometimes. (timber company had another trapper trap both these locations about 2 years ago. 330s are useless here and seems to be only 1 or 2 beavers left....spooky rascals. Company just sends me maps and says "trap there, and there, and there". A few of the "trap there" locations have zero beaver...lol.

With all of the rain my beaver trapping venture has been set trap, rains that night, wait a day for water to come down, remove beaver. Then set trap, rains that night. wait a day for water to come down, remove beaver. Then set trap, rains that night, wait.......Good luck on the nuisance work.
