I'm surprised somebody hasn't mentioned runs.

Around my camp in north central PA every crick is called a run. Elk Lick Run, Indian Shanty Run, Beech Flats Run, Gravel Lick Run, Ole Bull Run, Wild Boy Run, Ayers Shanty Run, there's dozens of them.
