Finally set some traps out, got a nice big male, was wanting to skin for a ruff. I've always case skinned them, I've heard you do it differently for a ruff.
Will add a better picture once it thaws.

The one's I have seen that were skinned for ruff's were skinned open like a bear. They were nailed and dried on a piece of plywood. Like you would skin a bear for a rug, same way as that. Split up the middle. I only sew for Taxidermy, like rugs. I do not sew clothes. But that is how I have seen them done.

Skin either cased or open.... your choice.

When making the opening cut along back legs, be sure and leave ALL the long hair on the "back" side, not the underside of the leg.

When it comes time to cut the strips for the ruff, I'd definitely suggest you get an experienced ruff sewer to help you mark it out for cutting! (Don't ask me how I know this!)

Case skinned it, as that's what I'm used to doing on Wolverine, did the back legs like Pete said to do. Will try skinning it like a rug on one of the next ones I catch. Thanks for the advice.

I did, they know how to cut a tanned skin for the ruff, not skin one for a ruff.

Their husband's should! Tho I thi k Pete was correct.

I am not keeping the feet on mine, the claws tend to cut up the parka material where they rub, especially when driving a snowmachine when it's warm and you have your paka hood down.

The first time you are riding a snogo and get slapped in the face by wind-blown wolverine paw/claws, you will rethink leaving the feet on the ruff!
