Heard last fall that you can over winter pepper plants.Supposed to get peppers way way early. So I'm trying it. 4 plants cut way back 12" in the basement.Right now the soil appears to be very dry. Wondering if I should water or leave them. I don't want them to bounce back yet if they even will.
I think tomato plants will do the same thing.
Anyone try it?

I have over wintered pepper plants before. One lived five years. I do not cut them back. Whole plant stays viable. Kind of just exists during winter - then takes off again n spring when it is put outside

You need to keep the soil just slightly moist. To dry will kill the plants. To wet can cause growth or rot.

I wintered 4 peppers for the first time in the sun room. I water them when they look like they need it. They don't look great, but they are alive. In another month and a half I can put them out.
