Last week, I.talked to a friend of mine who works as an engineer at Wright Patterson Airforce Base. He said they had laid off new hires, but since it takes many months to get security clearances and since employees can't work until they are cleared, none of the work being done was effected at all.

In the late nineties, my friend waited closed to a year after he started "working" at WPAFB before he got his clearance and was allowed to work. He sat in a huge cube farm, with other new hires waiting for clearance, at a desk, with nothing to do. He slept frequently at work, his boss, who had dozens of employees, who were not allowed to work, slept at work too.

My youngest brother only had to wait about 3 months before he was cleared for work at Wright Patterson, but he only worked there for two semesters.

Back before 9/11/2001, I was on WPAFB frequently, mainly because a lot of my friends worked there, but sometimes as a shortcut too. Since then, I've only been on base once. I had to get prior approval. My truck was thoroughly searched and I had to be off base within an hour. All I was doing was picking up a friend whose vehicle was broken down and loading some of his property in my truck.

I can't imagine any of them wanting to be on unemployment either, especially at what they are paid/hr these days! But funny they all will survive. I did, three downsizings and two buyouts thru my career.

So when is Stellantis making the announcement that Jeep and Ram truck prices are increasing due to tariffs?? Even though they been struggling for years.

The ram trucks were selling so poorly last time i called the dealership they were offering a 15k rebate or incentive of the price a a 1500 4x4 quad cab. 47k was the price they told me on the phone after the 15k reduction not counting all the add in like dock fees and such.

Sales man keep telling me how good a deal it was. Told him they must not be moving well if thay are offering discounts that large and not going the other direction like they had been marking them up. He told me I was wrong and they were selling well. OK sir....

Temporary layoffs, two weeks, I doubt they'll starve.

They've been struggling,

Top brass resigned in Dec. Been restructuring since Oct.

The new tariffs are just an excuse for ongoing poor sales. People buy into any anti-Trump story, lol.

Do you have a source for that, or is it pulled out of your behind? I'm guessing you just made it up because it sounds good.

In a couple years, You wouldnt know any if things dont get shook out. Unless you move to another country.

Was in the market for a new truck, went and looked at a 24 ram 2500, it was 13k off msrp, it had been sitting so long the battery was dead. Liked the truck but the wife didn’t and we passed, that was a month ago, still sitting there. Asked the salesman about Stelantis financial woes he assured me they would continue the Ram brand but beyond that wasn’t sure what direction the company would go in.

Don’t auto plants routinely shut down to retool for model changes? With the products they are currently putting out and the ridiculous prices they are asking I believe sales are down now. Just went through the new truck purchase gauntlet and dealing with dealerships is worse then ever most of what they pull can’t be or shouldn’t be legal.

Over priced junk at sticker prices at Toyota and Subaru then they want to sell you magic coatings, forced financing and all kinds of warrant garbage. Here if you get one of those big dealer rebates you pay tax on the discount even though it taken off the purchase prices I think thats criminal pulling that as it doesn’t apply to all purchases that claim to give you a rebate.

Do I work for the auto industry now no but I did for many years right out of school. Do I expect the tariffs to impact me, sure I do but I believe its necessary or the imported junk will just keep coming. Look at the junk China knocks off now there’s nothing they won’t copy so Americans don’t have a chance when they steal every patient. Go in Menards and pick 10 items and see where they are made.

Look at what your paying for the junk from China is it really any cheaper or better? I think of Lacrosse boots today double what they were years ago but made with cheaper materials so who’s saving on them now?

There has been talks/rumors about Stellantis selling off the brands of Chrysler and Dodge but keeping the Ram and Jeep products for quite some while , time will tell.

Layoffs are what happens When you build vehicles that are unaffordable with a bunch of electronic crap on them that few people want or need. So don’t blame tariffs.

As far as having empathy for those who get laid off, Obama and others said coal miners can become computer programmers and get green energy job building windmills and solar panels. So laid off auto workers can do the same.

Biden wanted to destroy the coal miners and fossil fuel energy with permanent layoffs not temporary including, I believe, 10,000 lost their jobs immediately on the Keystone Pipe Line plus the indirect jobs created by it. So ILcooner, where is your empathy for them or was this post made just for your hate for Trump?

To get changes we all will be impacted and some will understand that but the me, me folks will kick and scream all the way to prosperity like always. I told my liberal lawyer buddy he's against the man getting it done and thinks the ones that did nothing are the answer. LMAO

KTM motorcycle manufacturer has overproduced and has a 1 yr supply ( approximately 300,000 units)

They are in all kinds of trouble ( bankruptcy) .....someone will step in and pick up the pieces and they will continue. But alot of bs and people will get chopped.......nothing to do with tariffs.

I'm waiting for a big fire sale

Why are we dependent on goods from a country we are willing to go to war with in the future we are financing the enemy and then lose the supplies we would need to fight them. Heck the produce out medications how was that every a good idea unless it filled some pockets.

We won WWII because we out produced the nations we fought against I doubt we are in that good of a position today we have been sold out for cheap junk.

I saw that too. Isn’t it crazy how impatient this world has become?
It’s been only 3 days and dozens want to deal
Put the remote down and back away from the MSM. You will be better off folks.
