Well that changes everything. I 100% prefer the taste of beer to ANY diet soda.

No, he spit it out when he tasted it. We don't know exactly why he spit it out. Could have been of three things. (1) it was wine, Nazarenes don't drink wine, (2) It was mixed with "gall" and was bitter (a cruel joke), or (3) the "gall" was an opiod of sorts meant to kill pain, which he would have refused on principle.

What is the purpose of alcohol in this context?

It makes me better looking, funnier and bullet proof. I am not seeing a downside here.

I have nothing clever to put here.

SO true. I was waiting for a checkup at women doctor and I see these “females” sitting there in flip flops and tank tops with their greasy hair in a bun and I’m like who is touching these women to get them pregnant?

Public toilet seats got them pregnant. Grandma told me all about it when I was a kid. If you eat a white watermelon seed, that will get you pregnant too.

This leaves me with only one conclusion as to why people drink alcohol in this day and time. I know of no beer wine or liquor I would drink over a coke, tea or apple juice.

And physical health speaking, alcohol is one of the worst things you can put in your body.

Again, all of these points of view are sans religion of any kind.

Cold beer Is hard to beat especially after a day working in the sun during summer. Now Sam Adam's October fest is about the absolutely best breakfast beer paring if your having bacon and eggs or sausage..

Now I seldom drink much beer even when I would maybe a case a year. But I will argue with you that coke is worst for your body than a beer.

It's hard to beat a couple of ice cold beers in a steaming hot shower of an evening.

Love my shower beers.

The church here in town sells beer out of the priest's garage during the catlick fall festival, that's good enough for me

I very rarely drink beer, but beer is the only cold, carbonated, flavored, nonsweet beverage that I know of. Every once in a while on a hot summer day, that's just the recipe for a relaxing beverage. Iced tea is a good cold flavored beverage that's not sweet, but it's not carbonated.

I would rather funnel Mickey's Big mouths than drink unsweet tea. That stuff is nasty.

Jesus did drink wine:

Mathew 11:19 The Son of man came eating and drinking, and they say, Behold a man gluttonous, and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners.
Interesting how the Israelite's Mathew is referring to compared eating too much to drinking too much. An over indulgence.
Certainly, enjoy your food but don't be a glutton. Enjoy your drink but don't become a drunk. Moderation.

Here's another one:
Paul said in Colossians 2:16, Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holy day, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days.

Also, Jesus was FROM Nazreth in Isreal, not a Nazarene. He had not taken the Nazarene Vow.
Nazarene s take a vow and do not cut their hair or drink. Sampson took the vow and was a Nazarene.

Kind of related;

"Alcohol can act as a natural painkiller, as studies have shown that it can reduce pain sensitivity and provide some pain relief."

Used it for this purpose after a long day busting trail many times. Helps you sleep.

Haha……the women of Walmart. It’s not just in the US either, it’s everywhere!

The doc used to ask if I wanted T3s or 4s for pain after whatever injury. Told him no, I got whisky. The pain was still there, but I just didn’t give a crap. It would also knock me out for sleeping, but only for a few hours. Then I was up every 20min. My snoreing was horrendous during those few hours too.
My dad let me drink at home as long as it was downstairs and not in site of visitors as he was a deacon. We’d start discussing bible stuff and when smelled the booze that was it, we don’t discuss the bible when you’re looped he’d say. He’d have the odd “shot” though. I’d notice half my 26 was gone. Mom says oh dad poured himself a glass last night…..lol
When I told him I was enlisting about a year before 9/11, he kicked me out of the house……for a day. I told him I don’t need a roof. I don’t like thinking back to our fights and some of the things I said, but it is what it is, the past.

Or, there's that old adage: You CAN get pregnant sitting on a toilet seat.
