For some reason I keep having thermostats fail.. they’ve only been lasting about a year maybe 2. Probably because they are cheap ones. My question is this,,is it during the warm months you can run without a thermostat or is it during the winter.. I don’t exactly remember..thanks

What is it doing that makes you think the thermostat failed?

Buy a quality OEM or quality aftermarket. You may have an underlying issue. Have you had your coolant system flushed/serviced? Only thing I’ve Done with it is flush the heater core.. I do it every fall for maintenance… weather it needs it or not. I like to do it while it’s still warm outside and can use the garden hose

No matter if you buy a good one (recommended) or a cheap one, if it doesn't have a weep hole, drill one in it.
I use a 1/32nd bit for the hole. What this does is gives it just enough circulation to the thermostat that it opens when it should. Some seal that well that the water is stagnant and the water around the cylinders and combustion chamber gets way hotter that it should before the heat reaches the thermostat to open it.
There comes a point liberalism has gone too far, we're past that point.
