X2...after finding out that Redwings went to China (at least part of their boot line did), I bought a pair of Thorogood work boots and absolutely love them...would never go back to Redwing even if they brought it all back to America. These moc toe work boots are twice as comfy as Redwings were and last longer. Just my opinion....

Wesco’s and Nick’s are both good if you’re a leather boot guy. I’ve been using the Hoffman armor pros for a the last 6 years, I’ve been happy with them. I just recently bought some Hoffman kodiaks to try out, they’re a mountaineering style boot like the armor pros, super comfortable, pretty waterproof, and plenty durable. I always accidentally run a saw chain across my toes within a week of buying new cork boots, never fails, and the armor pros and kodiaks have so far allowed me to retain 10 toes

I have paid over a $1000 for a pair of shoes (If they are leather and lace up, they are shoes, not boots!) Caulk shoes (not cork) that were custom made by Kulien Shoes, Sadly they retired and are no longer in business. I could not wear any others as a result of a broken foot that healed wrong. $1000 and that was 25 years ago. I did see a pair in their shop with a price tag of $1800.
My last pair is officially worn out and I have contemplated buying maybe Nicks or even Whites (I used to not be able to wear Whites for long.) but it seems like a lot of money for the use a 70 year old would get out of them.
A $1000 seems a lot but when you are wearing them every day all day a comfortable shoe is a must and Kuliens were comfortable although heavy. They weighed in at about 10 pounds.

I also have white smoke jumper work boots and need to send in again to get new soles and heels again .
I also have a pair of dress packers boots which rarely get worn .

When they give up the ghost I'm seriously considering Wesco boots , since the new White boots are now owned by Lacrosse if I remember correctly .

You're friend along the snare line .

Do any of you all get boots resoled? Probably hard to find a place to do it anymore.

Been wearing Thoroughgood boots for years. Best boot out there IMO. I had one pair that was resoled 3 times before the uppers gave out.
You look around, about any larger city will have someone that resoles boots/shoes. Costs 50 to 75 bucks a pair for the resole.
