I watched no bs lures do it on facebook ( but he had an actual fleshing machine) and It got me very curious to see if I could do the same thing but with an old Maytag washer + wringer machine.

Rats are so easy to flesh I don't see how a machine would be helpful.

The fur buyer's wife in the little town I grew up in fleshed all of their rats using a hand-crank wringer. As kids, we didn't have any of that fancy stuff; we just used an old kitchen spoon.

I watched No BS lures video also. Wow that would be quick if you a lot of them to do.

I have used a wringer, and it works Ok. But an actual rat fleshing tool would be the way to go.
I'm looking at a spoon right now and I wouldn't be using it for fleshing rats.

Sold to a fur dealer who put up thousands of rats back years ago. It was a quick way for him and his help to put up hundreds a day. They also liked using wringers back then as they left small amounts of flesh and fat on the hide. This added to their profits back when rats were sold by weight.

Yep I used one when I was still trapping rats and it worked very well. Anyone claiming it works better with a spoon hasn't tried a hand crank wringer. Still have two of them hanging in the shed I would sure like to use again some day if rats ever come around again.

boarded all my rats on coon boards in north dakota - simply put them on boards fur side in, scraped with rat fleshing tool a second on both sides then pinned down - dry in about 2 days - did about 50 a night that way for a month. Boards added thickness to rat and my coon boards had good dimensions on nose end for rats as well

Never used a wringer washing machine. For the last decade I have been using a 4-5 inch long by 1.5 inch metal trowel and just scrape with one edge. Works great, wich I would have done that 25 years earlier.

Looking to buy this one. Hopefully I can just take the wringer part off and just redneck engineer a way for it to run off a OSHA approved extension cord. wink

I have one of those for washing coyote and fox. Works great for that. For rat fleshing I would suggest the hand crank wringer instead.

The old wringer washer has to much gap and rollers are to soft to take all the flesh off the hides.. If you know someone with a lathe. They can turn down the rollers to fit into a pipe. Then you have a fleshing machine and can also do Mink. You just adjust the opening.

Having finished 1000's of rats, I concur.
