Inflation calculator says that dollar had about $32 worth of todays buying power back then. You could have bought a round for Billy the kid and his gang.

Had over 20 like that in mint condition dated before 1900, another bunch after 1900, mercury dimes, buffalo nickels, etc, etc. All got stolen in 1980 when gold and silver price's shot up.

We sold a bunch of those from my parents estate. I bought a fist full of them for a 40 dollar everage.

There were a couple that went over a hundred but most in the range I paid.

I got a bunch of old silver dollars in the gun safe. Sixty years ago, when my wife was in Sunday School, the Church gave them away if the kids could memorize and recite different Bible chapters. She musta had a photographic memory, because she got a stack of them.

I picked up one, don't know if it's the same, but was old in front of my house about two years ago, figure some kids stole it and was looking at it when some one drove by and scared them and they dropped it, have it in my safe now.

When I was regularly metal detecting as a hobby years ago, I came across lots of silver coins in my travels around old ghost towns and old parks here in the city, as well as old penny's and nickels

Got them in a box somewhere in my safe as well !!

1864 2 cent piece. I was on a crew tearing a slate roof off. We were taking a break and I was sitting on one of the rafters and it was laying on the bottom of the truss when I found it. Wish I knew if it was placed there in hopes someone would find it someday or if it got left accidentally. No pics . Aint smart nuff to post em and don't wanna be.

Have quite a bit my great grandad gave me when I was a kid

Need to go through them but they are all priceless as far as I am concerned

My mom gave my grandson a silver dollar. It was used by my great grandmother when she was cutting teeth is the story. So it has been in the family for 6 generations

Found quite a few Indian pennies, a couple V nickels, and several barber and mercury dimes metal detecting. Never anything bigger than that.

Wife: That's the 4th time you've gone back for dessert, doesn't that embarrass you? Me: No, I keep telling them it's for you.
