weasel type box double ended with suet in the middle , let them eat then set the traps set those all around the foundation about every 6-8 feet where they already run

They the same as a chipmunk? I think the OP is talking about 13 lined ground squirrels which are not the same as a chipmunk. Law Dog, my favorite for 13-liners is the .17 HMR as well

3’ piece of 4x4 4 snap rat traps with the big pans
Find a trail there using (going between two of their holes) Set the 4x4 across the trail Put a trap and each outside corner of the 4x4.
The will hit the 4x4, run along it, and right in your trap. You’ll wear them out on a day or two, especially if you check the traps during the day. Then to move to the next colony! Hmmm.... What do you usually bait the pan with ?

Those dig a hole straight down to their den chamber which makes it easy to flood them out and grab them. Chipmunks don't do that so drowning them out doesn't work very often. flushing them out with a water cooler jug is kinda cool they run right back up into the jug then you just have to tip it up cap it off and you have them but you had to watch them go down the hole first generally then be ready with the jug

I shoot them in the yard with the pellet rifle. I don't have to worry about the direction I am shooting as much as with a 22 or 17 HMR. I have pretty good luck out to about 50 yards. I have mine pretty well shot out. I have only seen two so far this year and got both of them. Last year I was shooting at least one a day all summer.

A #1 LS set upside down over the hole. Works like a BG but you still need to stake'm down.

Good way to keep the trigger discipline sharp in the summer. Those little buggers are the bane of my existence. Ruined a septic system once, now they are the top of my hit-list.
Life sure is tough when you don't learn from the mistakes of others.

I just use rat traps baited with peanut butter. I just set near their burrow entrance and do not leave them out for long periods. During the day they are in and out constantly.
Bryce Besides shooting them as possible, this has been my approach as well. In the last year, I'm just not getting ahead of them.

I agree with Bryce. I just use a #0 or #1 longspring with peanut butter on the pan. Works great.
57 years trapping. It's who I am. Every day is still as exciting as it was when I was a kid but a little more work.

Get yourself a lawn chair, cooler with preferred beverages, and a fishing pole. Tie a surgeons loop in the line, bring the main line back thru to create a loop. Find an active hole and place loop around the rim. Await them to poke their head out and the rodeo begins…helps to be about 20-30 yards back…
