IMO, Democratic voting just doesn't seem to work very well in that region based on what I've observed in the last few decades.

The country was turned into nothing but slaves to the Ayatollah Khomeini rules.
He died in 1989 , and replaced by Ayatollah Khamenei, who was a former friend and confidant of Khomeini.
Total control of the people.
Now if the stories are correct , 80% of the people want this government ( USA ) to help them get their country back.
