To quote my lawyer when I went through it..."Now days you can literally get divorced over the internet for $300, Or... you can each spend $10,000 fighting over the silverware."

Scott, many people stop the divorce process. It even happens at the last court hearing. There are many people who stop the process and go on to live happily together afterwards. Sometimes couples need a a wakeup call. I hope you and Brenda can find happiness and peace, whether together or apart. I hope your estranged children realize their love for you and your for them and make amends.

My paternal grandfather had open heart surgery in his fifties and lived until he was 96. People can live great lives after the surgery.

My wife's mom and step dad have divorced and remarried years ago.. Just left their house and both are in bad shape. He is falling and on a walker she starts radiation for lung cancer next week. Still together and taking care of each other even though it got that rocky in the past.

My Parents divorced after 34 years. I was oldest of the kids and in my early 30’s. Very tough on me. Dad’s fault. Always some ones fault. Always. Each person needs to look at their self. If not your fault let her file for the divorce. You will always then have a clear conscious. Take the money and run. Don’t stay an extra minute in the relationship. Once 1 person gives up it will never be the same no matter what. But you need to get a lawyer at your age. If you don’t and you don’t get a fair deal a bad settlement is forever that’s a long time. Not enough time left for you to make it back. You need a fair settlement. MD
