Hopefully this is the start of the end of the slump… cubs were in the top categories for hits, homers, RBI, steals, and best record in baseball,,, then for some reason, started sinking faster than a cement block in a farm pond.

Since the All-Star game the Cubs are 8-8 and their batting average has dropped to .241, which is in the lower area. On the other side, the Brewers were hitting about .230 the first half of the season and are now averaging .256 which is 3rd in the league. Couple of good wins against the Mets.

Cubs win 1 then lose 2. Brewers have now won 10 in a row again. They are 30 games over .500 right now. The NL central has the most teams over .500 in the majors and the most wins as a diviision, 315, next best is 307. Hope they can continue to play good team ball, hit well, pitch well and play good defense.

I know in baseball, anything is possible… but I think the cubs blew it as far as the division goes. They better hope they don’t blow it for the wildcard. Cubs mediocre trades probably had an impact on the clubhouse. Hoyer is afraid to turn loose of the moldy money in the billfolds and get some productive talent. Suarez and another good arm on the mound could have had boosted morale…
Cubs face the blue jays next… hopefully they don’t get swept.

Cubs are 10th in team salaries for 2025. Brewers are 23rd. That will go up if they contnue to win as they are. I think the Cubs owners and GM felt with the terrific start the first half of the season in hitting, home runs and runs scored that they were in a good place. They may come back, but offense has really declined the last 30 games or so. Brewers play the Reds soon. They look to be gelling right now. NL central has a good chance with getting wild card spots if they contnue to win as they are doing.

Cubs loosing. Milwaukee winning AGAIN at the time of this post!! Absolutely pathetic. The cubs had the best record in baseball,,, and tops in the statistics…
It’s literally like the off off switch has been flipped.
Not even aggressive base runners…
I can’t help but wonder if something happened in the clubhouse.. issues with counsel? I dunno,, but something is clearly happening.

Yes, they did, for about 2 weeks… they were neck and neck with Detroit,, Detroit fell off a bit, which gave the cubs the best record, temporarily… but they did hold the position for second and third best team in the league for months.

June 18th the Cubs were 6.5 games ahead of the Brewers. After tonight they are 7 behind or more. I think with todays tech and all the recording and statistics that teams have found the weak swing areas of the hard swinging, free swingers and that may continue until they work on improving their swing patterns and or their zone coverage. The Brewers have a ton of young players (2nd youngest team in the MLB) and they are gaining experience with each at bat and game. Hope our pitching staff stays healty. Always a concern when you have that many high velocity arms.
