The doctor says he wants to give me an angiogram and take a close look at my heart. I'm supposed to be out of work for a few days after. For those of you that have done this, was it a smooth process? How did you feel during, and after the angiogram? I'm just curious, and honestly a bit nervous. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

It' was pretty much a cake walk. Went in, got prepped, shaved. IV, meds to feel no pain but awake. Doc went in through the groin. Doc put in stents in branch arteries, original 5 main bypass graphs were all clean. After the procedure while on the table they had me take 6x 75mg Plavix ( blood thinners). Spend an hour in recovery before they would attempt to allow me to get up and walk around the nurse's station (it was the test). I had some bleeding issues from the incision site ... go figure, blood thinners, duh ... so back to bed and they cleaned up the blood. Waited another 45 minutes, before another trip round the nurse's station ... no bleeding ... released to my driver to go home with instructions. Took it easy the rest of the day, was back to walking the next day. Not really any pain through the whole procedure or after.

If they put stents in you'll be on blood thinners for at least a full year.

They didn't find any valve issues, so I don't know what happens with those issues.

Actually one of the easiest procedures I've had.

Used to be the worst part was the waiting for the groin incision to clot up, and you gotta pee because of the IV's....procedure itself is easy....Heart hospital here does dozens a day, never heard of a bad outcome though I guess they wouldn't advertise that, lol
You'll be fine, and good luck

I'm told that they intend to go through my wrist, so in happy they're staying away from my groin. Thanks gcs

Hope all went well. Everything good or did they have to put some stents in?

I have had both - through the groin and through the wrist. The wrist much better - in my opinion

Fortunately all is well. It still leaves some questions, but the doctor said I should have plenty of years left.

They went through my wrist, but I still unexpectedly had a nurse shave about a third of my nether region, just in case things went wrong with my wrist. Talk about awkward.

She didn't need to do it, she just lost a bet with the rest of the nurses. smile

I have nothing clever to put here.

When in the hospital, leave your modesty at home grin

I think she won myself 160. Usually a gal would have to pay good money for that privilege.

The janitor that has to haul the NAFA bag of fur out to the dumpster won't be impressed.

I had mine don last December. Went through the groin. Had to stay pretty much to very limited movement and nothing taxing for 7-10 days. Procedure was fast, simple and no side affects. No stints even though some blockage. Not enough to do a stemt. Got placed in a cholesterol med. My cholesteral was not that high but afte 4 months the bad cholesterol is way down.

Between having a thrombectomy ( removing a clot from the brain ) and performing a heart ablation , both involving going through the groin, I just assume I'll be sidelining my humility .

Glad it worked out, Sam.

After my knee replacements they took out the catheter, but blood clots plugged up the works and couldn't pee...very painful!, they came back in and put in another one, then another one....now the first one goes in when your knocked out, any subsequent ones are while your wide awake!, lol....trust me, you don't care who's there handling your stuff, they've seen it before so it's all good. grin
