Just got my latest Trapper's Post, read Mike Wilhite's editorial about country fur buyers. He captured perfectly the state of the industry today, and how important country buyers are to the fur trade. Any of us that started out trapping as a kid and had a burning desire to trap will relate to his column. Bittersweet column, but 100 percent accurate. Great editorial, thanks Mike.

I agree, great editorial. Brings back memories from way back when I was a kid tagging along with dad selling his green fur to a local buyer.

Being old is when you don't care where your spouse goes, just a long as you don't have to go too.

Good times!

Use to have 4 within 10 miles of me, but none now.

There comes a point liberalism has gone too far, we're past that point.

Yep, used to have a half dozen local buyers....Now just 2 that I know about....Those old country buyers would critique you fur handling, and were a great place to hang out, watch fur come in, and talk fur/trapping.

For 30+ years the guy down the road bought everything on the carcus. That's gone now and I now see how easy I had it all those years.

When I was a kid I sold to a buyer that also owned a junk yard. In the summer he would buy hub caps from me that I found along the road for 50 cents . That was back in the late 50s and early 60s.
