I wanted some big iron ready should the need arise and looking at Flipper & The Hammer's DLS pics on the trap mod post inspired me. The Slerpy Creek 4.5s are getting harder to find but I'm convinced I've never seen a set of traps that can out perform these.

As you can see, they will lay nicely waiting on a big paw. Shout out to Big Sam for hooking me up with some great traps to work off of.

Beautiful. Classic Hammer work. I wouldn't even want to get those works of art dirty!

If he doesn't get them dirty, I'm driving to Texas and stealing them back.

Thanks guys and yes Gary aka The Hammer deserves all the credit I can give him. I've been watchin some of his YouTube videos and everything he does is like a darn Mona Lisa!

Here is a short video about these traps.

Was a pleasure working on them traps and man are those 4.5s stout! I am happy that you’re happy with them! Those are the first 4.5s I ever had the pleasure of modifying have done plenty of other big traps like 5s and 4s but those SC 4.5s are some serious iron to handle! I’m not even aloud to use a trap that big but with how well they turned out I will be doing one up having it powdered coated and hanging on the camp wall!

Very impressive work. If something steps in them they should be there when you show up to check. Good Luck.

Yeah there's not gonna be no pull out worries with that set of traps!

I agree Hammer if I had too many I'd make one into a wall hanger but I only have a few. Maybe if I catch a big ol tom I will retire one and hang it with his tanned hide in my living room.

I had a local welder laminate all my number two and number three Bridgers and Northwoods a few years ago. Having never done anything like that he gave me a very good price and later regretted it.

I can tell you, that those laminations don’t look nearly as good as yours Leftlane. Your traps could serve as the gold standard for laminations.

Thanks but some of the credit goes to Uncle Flipper- when I saw the mods he had done I reached out to him about them. He recommended that I get the lam kits JC Conners makes and I am glad I did!

Between the way they fit and Hammer's welding / fab skillz I couldn't be happier!

JC’s lamination kits are top notch and make it really easy for the guy/girl doing the welding I’ve never had a lamination kit that came from him that didn’t fit a trap perfectly. I bend and make my own laminations base plates and what not. But I don’t have jigs and stuff set up to make things for just random different traps so it would take time to do so, but for the most part when doing work for others traps I myself even recommend they get most there modification materials from jc. In the long run if your paying someone to modify your traps it will be cheaper for the amount time saved by them not having to make base plates swivels or laminations. If they just get a box of traps and everything you want done to the trap then there time and labor is just in the welding not making the modification parts wanted on the traps. With so many premium models of traps out there these days modifying your traps or having traps modified by someone has seem to be slowly becoming a thing in past.
