Been trying to conibear some squirrels. Got a trap set in tree on heavy limb baited with peanut butter in between the jaws that rest on the wood attached to limb. They are robbing the butter from under the trigger wires and in between the jaws. Not sure how but they are getting it done. I watched one yesterday at work but couldn't see his detailed style but when he left I went out and looked it was all done again.
I added some wire to the wire triggers and will see where that gets me.

File the dog down making it a hair trigger.

File the dog down making it a hair trigger. Yes I will do that. It fires fast now but will tweak it.

Plastic tubing over the two trigger wires filled peanut butter. A 1 1/2 with the V cut in the pan, peanut butter an the bottom of the pan pushed up into the V.

File the dog down making it a hair trigger. That and smear some peanut butter on a small piece of wood attached to the trigger wires.
If removing guns saves just one life it's worth it. Then if deporting illegals saves one life is that worth it?

Turn the trap 180 deg so the trigger is on the bottom, put PB on the base of the wires.

If I had loads of red squirrels, like they do in some places up North, I would do a long snared pole set, between trees. ![[Linked Image]](https://trapperman.com/forum/attachments/usergals/2025/10/full-11798-271097-193c7ebc101e252d0da7af887d61c5e5.jpg) They can be super effective and there's something darkly amusing about what looks like a mass gallows for squirrels. A long time ago, I put 6, 110 conibears in a row on a pipe in a friend's barn, who was having a Norway rat infestation. I caught 4 in a row twice, but never could catch the 6 in a row I wanted. I oddly caught one between 2 traps and 3 traps, that weren't set off, once. They used the pipe to come down from a loft they were living in to raid the chicken feed. I caught them on a long horizontal stretch. I wired the traps loosely on, so they fell down and dangled well below, once a catch was made. Keith | | |
