Its always the 10% that screws it up for the good 90%! But this is why Wisconsin landowners don’t give permission.
Border property has public access. You can sit on the fence line and all is good. If you shoot a big buck, I’m thrilled for you. I planted 30,000 trees to enhance the habitat. We planted corn to stand all winter. We have alfalfa, clover, acorns, radishes, fruit trees,….. Deer are free roaming. I don’t have a high fence. Same deer I see walks through all the bordering properties.
But yet another jackwad felt entitled to sit on the fence line, trespass, tromped down rows of corn in my field to make shooting lanes, and put a camera on it just feet over the line.
You selfish, pathetic, piece of crap - stay the heck off my land. You destroyed bushels of corn that was designated to stand all winter for the deer and turkey. I don’t understand how you can feel so entitled. You are not a sportsman, you are a thief, and you vandalized property. Please fall out of your treestand head first. I promise to pee on your grave.
BTW, it’s foot tracks in the corn, not hoof tracks. This was done deliberately. Feel free to share on the WI hunting sites.

Be a shame if paint somehow ended up on the lens of that camera. Tragic even.

Private in voluntery public access program. Owner is out of state and I don't think really cares what goes on there. I've written him a few letters about all the issues I endure. No response

Does the law take trespassing seriously over there?

I wouldn't touch his gear but I WOULD hang a camera of my own pointed right at his. One junk broken one that is very obvious and then another good camera that is well hidden. I have had good luck not only catching the trespasser but getting video of them destroying the obvious camera on your private land too.

I have nothing clever to put here.

Is the camera a cellphone type that sends photos? They are traceable (sp?). I'd call the local DNR officer and he/she can investigate and come up with a name. Not a cell-cam, I'd still call DNR after removing the camera and replacing with a note telling where it can be picked up. As soon as I had a name I'd make the puke pay for the corn, as well as have them ticketed for trespassing, malicious destruction of property, etc. All that, and put the person on social media and make them famous, at least locally famous (infamous) as a trespassing p.o.s. As you might be able to tell, I have had lots of trouble from intitalled trespassers and have NO use for them.

Over the last 35 years of having this place, I'ld sy not really. Responses are quite slow.

For the most part, I don't give a rats rear end about his cell-cam. Its all the corn he trashed

When it comes to private property rights, many people have no concept of it or respect. Too big of a job for them to find out who owns the land and pick up a phone or knock on a door. And I believe it’s more than 10%. I have zero tolerance for trespassers.

Mr. Wieland, you're about an 8 hour drive from me. For the price of gas I could come down with my speedo and my lawn chair and sunbathe in front of his camera for a couple days. It won't bring your corn back, but I assure you it would ruin the trespassers day. I do hate a trespasser, especially one that's willing to do damage to property.

Totally understand your frustration. I dealt with it for years on our farm. Finally have a handle on it now. However, keep in mind it could be a kid. Kids do dumb stuff and don't' realize it until later in life.

There was more than once I contemplated cutting a tree stand strap 3/4 of the way through on a trespassers hang on. I'm glad I didn't do that now.

Had someone hang a camera overlooking my side of the fence line, ON a fence line post!.... Somehow a fallen branch ended up covering the lense. cool

Only reason for that was to hunt the line and shoot onto my property...bold move... mad

As for 10 percenters, think you need to bump that up to 25%, a one way trip through a chipper and no one will miss them...

This is what game wardens are for. But, if you decide not to call your local officer(s).........Hope you're able to get the problem took care of.

As a former GW, I loved these kind of situations. I enjoyed dealing with these cheaters.

Was glad when the landowner called me to handle it.

Now I won't be able to get that image out of my head! That Speedo would like the little string on a Pot Roast.

I have someone that has been riding a side by side around my farm, land behind us and heard the guy is shooting deer off it with an x bow. 2 nughts back the boys heard an atv on the farm and hoped in my daughters truck And went looking for it. He was pulled over lights off hiding. Fireed it up and took off out the gap I made in my fence at the gate when I put in water lines. The boys( not thinking) attempted to follow down the road but lost him.

Now im deciding how im wanting to handle this. I suspect he will be back so at this point im thinking all the funnels that will direct vehical traffic on the farm will be getting boards put down with nails in them covered with grass. I will do this in central locations so as long.as the tires are not sliced he should be stuck on falts before he can get off the farm. ADD some cell connected trail cams to monitor and I should be able to catch him. With all the trespassing and poaching in the area I would hate to have to leave my utv somewhere unattended. It would be very likely to get burnt to the ground by vandals.

I can't say what or how I would truly prefer to handle it.

I would hang a big no trespassing sign in front of it so if it takes a picture that’s all he sees.
