#7 national canner , peanut oil , and a tin lid makes a grocery bag of great popcorn ,

I use a smaller cast aluminum 3 quart for small batches.

haven't made any in months , I don't eat enough popcorn myself to bother making it but if I had company I would.

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

3 times a week in the winter. I like white popcorn better and even here I can buy Amish Country popcorn.

On the stove over gas.

I kind of go in streaks but make it more often in winter. I have a old wearever kettle like my mother used. That I have use only for popcorn for many years now. Some would call it a nasty looking thing because of oil build up. I call it well seasoned. I prefer yellow popcorn and corn oil. The way I do it the pot makes about 2 gallons each batch.

I always grow a little. I've settled on a Japanese hybrid as my favorite.
It's easy to do, Nessy. Just pick it when it's dried down and shell it. That's it!

You buy popcorn seeds just like any corn seeds ya buy. I find it just as easy to grow, meaning no special requirements.

I let it on the stock until the stocks turning brown from dying and then lay the ears to dry for a couple weeks. Kernels should be hard.

Then ya pluck them off the ear and wait a couple more weeks before cooking.

Do you want to make your popcorn taste the same as a movie theater snack stand ?

They all use this - butter flavored salt.

I grow it every year. Still use the pot my parents did when I was small. That makes it about 60+ years old.

That is very often Sunday supper Ness. On the stove top, a little canola oil, then real butter and salt. Occasionally I add some Lawrey's seasoning for a change up. White "Snappy" brand is my favorite. Smaller hulls are better for my diverticulitis, lol.

Yeah,
You'll get 2 maybe 3 ears to a stalk. More than enough!

Nothing eats popcorn, so you don't need to worry about, squirrels, coon, or deer eating it up like they do other types of corn.

No pheasants or quail here anymore. Used to have bobwhite quail.

I do, or did, till I had my teeth pulled. I liked to take the stuff and make a pot full when I go Hunting, Fishing or anything.

I think my boys could eat their weight in popcorn. We do it in a pan or our popcorn popping machine, they don’t care much for microwaving it, except in a pinch.

I’ll eat it every once in a while. Broke a tooth eating it once while on a trip to Ft. Drum in NY and wouldn’t touch it for the longest time after that.

Might add some to the garden next year. They boys will like that.

I know you can’t plant it the same time as seeet corn, so need to figure out the schedule. Don’t want cross pollination.

Stop over cooking your meat! It isn’t gamey, it’s over cooked!

Didn’t realize popcorn was so controversial.

Will check out the Snow Puff Hybrid Hippie! Also the strawberry.

Hopefully the boys get into growing their own.
