My wife has a dog rescue at our home. She gets inspected by the Georgia Dept of Ag annually.

A really nice lady came today (she said about a 4 hour drive for her to get down here) and conducted the inspection and left.

20 minutes later, I get a call from my cuz (that is a deputy in an adjoining county) about a fatality vehicle crash a couple miles from our home.

Then, about an hour later, the local sheriff calls and asks if we know a lady that works with the DoA. My wife acknowledged knowing the lady's name. Sheriff says she was killed in a crash with a big truck just down the highway from our home.....she died instantly. Sheriff seen paperwork in her car with wife's name on it.

Please pray for this lady's soul & family. We didn't know her but she was a very friendly and professional person. My wife is struggling with this as she was no doubt the last person she spoke to before she died.

I also feel for the LE person that had to tell her family this afternoon.

Life is short and may be gone in the blink of an eye.

Hopefully the wife won't start the process of what if I had just did X that would have delayed/ or expedited her leaving hence moving the travel time and avoiding the crash line of thinking.

While I might agree with the sentiment that many in today's soul sick society worship creation and created beings rather than the Creator, this unfortunate accident had zero to do with it.

If I had to cast about for a plausible cause I would look to this state's policies that has lead to a massive increase in large commercial trucks on the roads. But that may not be it at all.

Why would it be your wife's fault ?

The lady probably drove past a 100 abused kids to inspect the care of some stupid dogs ( I'm sure your wife is taking care of them just fine ) .

It's unbelievable to me ........and nothing to do with you or your wife .....think about it .....an agency to check on a dog 4 hrs from your house

I don’t think AntiGov was referring to Swamps wife. I think it was more in general how there’s a policy where an agency has to do an inspection every year, probably a push from people that love animals more than humans.

I don't know how that has much to do with it , she could have just as well been inspecting a number of other facilities. people drive for work and for many other reasons.

I had a co-worker having a cook out at her house with some friends ran to the store or ketchup and make it less than a mile and was T bones and dead , she was 27 years old had just been married a year was looking forward to a lot of life ahead then she was just dead.

Educate yourself.

This lady was checking the facility and proper care procedures at our home. It was her job. They inspect all kinds of animal care facilities that come under the jurisdiction of the Dept of Ag.

You said "because humans worships dogs."

Well, my wife is the one that has the dogs!

If she read what AntiGov posted she would lose it (more than she already is) because it read like direct blame to me. SMH!

Inspections are conducted on animal shelters, livestock facilities, etc statewide.

Probably do same thing in Oregon.

The human race has lost love for their fellow man. I fight for some causes, but when my zest for my cause overtakes my compassion for my fellow man when they are in dire straights, then I call that the definition of working on Sunday. Some times working on that kind of day of rest just don't pay, for me or my cause !

Just talked to the sheriff again.

Semi-truck driver was following too close and caused the crash. He is in jail now.

Big truck must have had an on-board camera that was seized & viewed for the crash investigators to know that.

Or, maybe she had on-board cameras in her state car.....

And I think it's a big waste of time ........and its probably much worse here in Oregon .

I'd be irrate if a " government official " came to inspect my chickens and my cat .

I apologize swampwolf if I came across as bashing your wife , that was not my intent . I think she should have how ever many animals she wants , and do what ever she wants with them .

It's a crazy society imo when when we pay someone to drive 4 hrs to check on a person's care for dogs.....and in doing so the poor lady dies in a car wreck ....

Tragic .....and pure nonsense to me

Im sure this lady checked facilities on a route across the state. Maybe she checked other facilities coming and going.

These inspections have a commercial aspect.....this is not about someone's pet chickens and cats.

My wife has provided a service for our small community for nearly 20 years by assisting with the care and re-homing of stray, abused, and abandoned pets. There is no one else within 20 miles that does this and she is very good at the care she provides.

Every critter here, including me, is well fed and too fat, and we are all clean....thanks to her.

I get what AG is saying though. If I was your wife, I would be offended that the state feels they need to inspect my home and kennels, when all I am trying to do is "assist with the care and re-homing of stray, abused, and abandoned pets". People shouldn't have to be subjected to government inspections just for doing a good deed. I think that's all he meant, and it is a sentiment completely inline with his screen name, after all.

I totally agree with your premise. It really shouldn't be a govt job but it is what it is and not the reason for the poor unfortunate woman's death. You've picked the wrong hill on this one.

What are the chances the truck driver is an illegal with no or questionable license.

And I think yote trap hit the nail on the head and see antis point.

The government is giving you permission to do your good deed in your home at your private residence. And paying people to so so.

So much for land of the free. Government me harder yes please. seems like a good target for doge cuts.

Your wife should not need to be bothered to take time out of her day for inspection to so what she wants with animals on her property.

just more government over reach. Permit = asking for permission.

To operate as an animal shelter (which is required of all rescues) a state permit is required here in Georgia.

Because it is permitted it is subject to rules and regs stated in that permit. The inspections are only conducted once annually for permit compliance. The inspections are not hard core, white glove details. They check the dog in & out records, the cleanliness of the facility, and the health of the dogs.

This is NOT about someone coming to look at your personal kennels, or chickens or your lazy housecat laying on your porch.

My wife has cared for dogs that were walking death, nursed them back to as perfect health as possible, and found them homes all over the Country. She has a large network she coordinates to find these dogs good homes amd families.

But, a few we have here are our family pets and a few of the rescue dogs are very old or have health conditions that won't make for adoption.....nobody wants them. I think there are 20+ dogs here at this time.

She loves to do this and never complains very much about my interests such as hunting and trapping so.....I do t complain very much about these dogs....lol

Can yall imagine the condition of some dog facilities if the so-called do-gooders are left unchecked?

Humans dont all do the right thing as some of yall seem to think.

If they did, the National Guard, along with ICE, wouldn't have to be sent to these crime-ridden cities.

We are a nation of laws.

I understand all that Swamp. But, I still don't think it should require a permit and inspections. I always wanted to be involved in wildlife rehabbing, but the permits and inspections that that entails have prevented me from ever pursuing it. It's all government overreach in my opinion. If someone wants to take time out of their busy lives to help animals, be it cats, dogs, or wildlife, they shouldn't be required to ask the state's permission to do so.

O guess there is a difference in opinion we have. You're corect some will be nasty
But news flash they still are and are still out there they just dont bother with permits.

Having a permit system dose not make the bad go away it just adds to more barriers and hassle for the good ones.
Same as anything else need a permit to carry your gun for example. Criminals dont bother with it. But the law abiding will. Then there are some that think compliance makes them cool. Take all the people posting pictures with their covid vax cards as an example. Its cool to be part of the in crowd.

Permits, fees, laws ect won't stop bad behavior.

Im more of a small government individual. Government always grows and creeps. Regardless of how good the intentions were to start. Take a lot of our epa rules that ran the manufacturing out of our country.

Absolutely! I told the wife this very thing a couple times this afternoon.

I added that God's plan is not man's plan.

Thanks you Sir!

Yeah....every one should be allowed to have 30 dogs in a 16'×16' open kennel with no food and water. And a couple of rabid coons, maybe a pet grey fox....and a 1.5 year old whitetail buck raised from a fawn that has just learned that he has antlers in October and is just waiting for your neighbor's kid to walk outside and kneel down to play with his toys in the yard with his back turned.

Heck.....maybe everyone in the neighborhood will have a zoo like this....that'll be great!

Your key word is ‘but’…negates everything you said before the comma.

And why I take flack here if I would post about bottle feeding squirrels that were nested in a tree I took down, or raising coon that mom was dead on the road, or rehabilitation any # of animals over the last several decades.

First thing do you have a permit. Are you in the special cool kids club. I understand most people are. ignorant and have the Bambi idea of animals and reasion behind the permit crap. But laws won't stop it and you can't protect people from their own stupidity.

So we just live by our own code and do what we believe is right.

Mama always said that "locks are for honest people". Same applies to permits.

You just won't quit.

After you PM'd me I thought maybe I understood your original comment.

"Badge of honor to get inspected" ????

"Believed she was helping the animal kingdom"???

Im done with this nonsense. My intentions wasn't for this to turn into a discussion about government over-reach, permits, and "woe is me" folks that think everyone should have a free for all.

I ask that if yall are believers to please pray for that lady's family. She was just doing her job.

Brush it off Swamp, they like the attention. Some folks just enjoy being the south end of a north bound donkey.

Prayers for all involved. Such a tragedy.

Sad deal. That lady was someone's daughter and may have been a mom or sibling, and was doing something harmless that she felt was necessary in her life. Framing this discussion any other way than sympathetic for all involved is rather heartless IMO.

I had a similar thing happen- I was at the local Trader Horn 20 some years ago and spotted an ad on the bulletin board with traps for sale. Called the guy and scheduled a time. He was a small statured guy, humble, unassuming, we talked for hours. Flash forward to next week, Im reading the newspaper and for some reason noticed his name in the obits. He died later that night that I was there, I didnt think there was anything wrong with him, he seemed fine. Come to find out he was a highly decorated Special Forces Soldier that taught ROTC. I thought maybe I was possibly the last one to talk to him besides maybe a family member.

Swamp is just taking the coments about society and government personally. As if its a slight to him or rather his wife directly. In no way has anything o have seen posted been ment that way.

I believe anti response about bage of honor was to me and my comments about how having a permit or licensed rehab place make some people feel like thaynare prt of something or the in crowd. We have all seen it just in different situations.

Again has nothing to do with or directed as a negative tword you or your wife in the slightest. Infact I think its great the time and resources you bot put into her passion of taking care of dogs that need a beter situation.

Taking everything as a personal shot at your wife is quite a stretch. By now you should know anything you post will get what others think about the topic. Don't take things not ment personal personally and even if something is ment personally( loard knows I have taken a lot of personal shots from people on here) that its just people on the internet few if any you know and what the smart mouths say have no effect on you and they are not likely someone you woulf respect enough to care what they think anyway.

Im guessing you have a nice kennel set up built since she semem to be really driven and passionate about her rescue. I would be interested in how it works and you planed it and things you would change to make it mor efficient if you could do it over again.
I really enjoy dogs as dose my daughter and have thought about putting in a kennel for short term boarding, training at some point in the 20 year plan. Small things like slope in floor for cleaning or having feed or doors located here is mor efficient make a big difference in saving time over the years. So im interested in looking at many set ups.

Seems like some here didn’t like that the state mandates inspections for animal facilities. You could argue the merits of it all day. But in the end, a lady got killed while going about doing her job. And that should sadden anyone.

Dont think I was the only one that read AntiGov's comments like that. Go back and read them if you'd like.

And yes...I did take those comments personally because of how he worded it. He PM'd afterwards and then went right back and made gouging comments again.

This post was never meant to bring out that kind of response, but I should have expected it from some of yall "woe is me" folks. It was for sympathy for the deceased lady that was just doing her job.

Wow my post type-o seem have seemed to have gotten much worse the last few days. Seemed good when I hit post. Cognitive MS issues coming out I subspect.

None of us know when our number will be up. Or worse if we will get to enter the disabled club. ITS THE one club that doesn't discriminate anyone can join at any time.

Its always hardest for me when I see young life's cut short. Especially kids or parents that had kids.

We all get so caught up in day to day life we forget how fragile and fleeting it can be. Take time out slow down and enjoy and notice the little things. With my health problems i noticed stars and sun rises for the first time in several years, watched a toad going along its day while squirrel hunting . [Linked Image]
Looks some time and got a few pictures I never would have bothered with.

Hopefully the young lady didnt have any children at home and her family can find comfort while processing their loss

Worship? I don't see that going on.

You say you weren't going after Swamp's wife. Okay. Who were you going after, that poor woman who died doing her job?
You need to work on your social skills. That, or completely isolate yourself from society.
Get off your high horse of anti-government and start thinking about your choice of words, or in this case, not saying anything at all, which will hurt those who have suffered a tragedy like this one.
BTW, misunderstanding or not, I do agree with assignment of the nickname of peckerhead in this instance.
