Well...our jaw just hit the floor on the new significant wave forecast for tonight....
"Tonight: northwest storm force winds to 50kt...waves 25 to 30 feet occasionally to 39 feet." This is the marine forecast from the National Weather Service for just west of Muskegon, MI on Lake Michigan. The forecast significant wave height is 28 feet tonight on Lake Superior and 24 feet high on Lake Erie! The "Gales Of November" reach peak force tonight!

Yikes. I can't imagine what it would be like to be on the water in something like that.

**Monster Waves & Seiche Coming**
Soon we will be able to walk on the bottom of Lake Erie in parts of the western basin. The water level is dropping, and it will fall 6 feet by late today. This could end up being the 2nd biggest seiche in recent memory. This may reveal shipwrecks in shallow water, and other items that are normally under 6 feet of water on a normal day.
Meanwhile, the National Weather Service has issued a Gale Warning for all of Lake Erie. That is through Friday morning with 40 knot winds and waves up to 20 feet tonight into Thanksgiving in the central and eastern half of the lake. The water level before the waves is forecast to be more than 11 feet higher along the shore of Buffalo, NY compared to Toledo, OH.
If you do head out to the lakeshore today or Thanksgiving to either watch the waves or search the drained lakebed, please be careful. The water will not rush back like a tsunami, but the water levels will be in flux. If you are near Lake Erie where the water and waves reach monster levels, please keep a safe distance between you and the water. You do not want to mess with the power and anger of Lake Erie!

No K-zoo, but it will be tomorrow. I'm gonna hang ten, and ride giants. Those are the only surfing terms I know.

We had really bad winds here today. Three big trees blew over while I was working outside putting all my seedlings, vines and bushes tight together, for my nursery business, to hold thermal mass for the Winter. My face is wind burnt, where my beard doesn't cover it. I think the trees were some of the fewer remaining, standing dead ash trees. Diane and I got to see one tree fall, because it made a very loud crack first. I probably lost more in my lower areas.

My uncle, a guide on lake Erie, called that a "(This word is unacceptable on Trapperman)" walleye chop.

It was about 8:30 AM when that first blast of wind hit here in Holmes county. Our house is wrapped around with 100 plus foot high red oak trees all with plenty of leaves on them. It only took about 2 hours and 95 percent of the leaves were gone. It was a sight to see.

That’s right down the road from my house Grand Haven …… guy is on the north pier . Light house is the south side

Those surfers are out there until the water gets lumpy. The kite boarders are nuts too. !!! Fun to watch though…….
