I'm glad I grew up in the 70's and 80's. Raised my kids in Latchkey Kid fashion. Most kids their age didn't have parents who would lock the door and tell them to drink out of the hose. They will thank me later.

Didn't smoke cigarettes with the truck windows up though.

I'm glad the emotional part of my brain never developed and dominate my decision making.

Not a big fan of the soft sciences.

Some of that makes sense, like being seated w/seatbelt while in a moving vehicle, especially at highway speeds that are so prevalent today. A lot of it is just progressive coddling, the negative effects of which won't be recognized by the designated "parenting experts" for another decade or two, if ever. Most of us already know that a generation of weaklings is being raised and they will have to go to their safe spaces to avoid hearing the truth.

When my son was in second grade I took him on a backpack mule deer hunting trip in Colorado. I went to the school to find out what we needed to do to keep him from falling behind. School told me they could not allow it. Liked to had a litter of kittens when I told them I wasn't there for permission. Did schoolwork by a campfire. Weathered a pretty good snowstorm. Ate several rabbits he shot with his 22. Had campfire roasted back strap. A good memory for us both. He learned a lot about being outdoors and got his schoolwork done.

The school tried to stop us
